Just look on the silver and gold eagles to confirm this 50 to 1 ratio. Even the Central Fund of Canada, CEF, stores fifty ounces of silver for each gold ounce. On the other hand, the ratio of silver to gold maple leafs is only 10 to 1. And then the Q'uran specifies 7 dirham to 1 dinar. It sure makes for an interesting puzzle and spirited bargaining when the time comes to actually use your silver coins for daily purchases.
