Just like Roubini, many of us started suspecting widespread austerity as the international bankers are realigning and conglomerizing. So far Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal, and a handfull of other countries are being battered by the manipulative nature of S&P, not to mention the back-handing they get from the IMF and BIS. It looks like they are spinning the treasury presses in high gear in order to keep the fiat dollar as a global currency, judging by the shape of the euro these days.
