Weekly News Wrap-Up 9.28.12

Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com

There were lots of fireworks at the United Nations this week.  Yesterday, the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, was drawing a red line of his own on a crude picture of a bomb.  Don’t laugh, because he was really talking to the U.S. audience in illustrating his point that Iran is getting close to building a nuclear bomb.  It was simple but effective.  Earlier in the week, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad rejected charges that his country was becoming a nuclear threat to the world.  He cleared up the controversy about the quote “wiping Israel off the face of the earth” and said he was talking about “occupied territories.”  Ahmadinejad says he has long been misquoted.

Ahmadinejad keeps saying he wants peace but contradicted himself earlier in the week when he said Israel will be “eliminated” because it does not belong in the Middle East.  President Obama also addressed the UN and told Iran that the time to resolve the nuclear standoff peacefully was “not unlimited.”  Obama also said, “. . . United States will do what we must to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.”   By the way, Iran test fired anti-ship missiles this week.  The world is inching towards war, not away from it.  We’ve all heard about the “unlimited” QE (money printing) by the Federal Reserve it says is to revive the economy.

Now, the Fed has announced it is ready to bail out the EU if things spiral out of control.  The ECB also has an “unlimited” printing money policy.  Is there any wonder why gold is surging and everyone is predicting higher prices?  It appears it is not working because the numbers for durable goods are in for August, and they plunged more than 13%.  I have been telling you this for a couple of years that there is no real recovery, and there is not.  John Williams at shadowstats.com calls the economy “bottom bouncing at best.”   Join Greg Hunter as he gives his analysis on these stories and more in the Weekly News Wrap-Up.

Glad to see you take a stand against promoting/disseminating hatred toward various religious communities.

    • Greg

      Janice,
I had too. You should have seen the comment I would not approve. Hatred on all sides. That’s not what I want here. I want honest thought provoking ideas and critical thinking. I often put up views because I do want a wide divers view. Hey sometimes I’m wrong, and somebodies comment turns me or enlightens me. Thank you for your support.

Greg, Iran will not quit enriching, simply that simple and won’t stop no matter what sanctions go into effect. The Obama Administration & the State Department just doesn’t get it, still thinking in western logic. When Iran doesn’t budge no matter what sanctions are imposed upon them it will just be more frustration for the State Department. The problem lies in that the Western powers, especially the United States, lacks the understanding that radical Islam would rather die than capitulate no matter how many dollars are offered in exchange and sees war as a commandment that must be followed, Godly, if you will. This is why there will be war eventually, because Iran will continue its nuclear policy unabated by western values or its sanctions imposed upon them.

Thank you for standing up against all the hate. I’ve been appalled by the comments I read on some Youtube channels.

    • Greg

      Thank you Barry.

    Hey Greg

Nice to see you say it how it is. It’s funny. I’m an orthodox Jew, and I read MANY commentaries on many different websites. Not just Zero Hedge.. haha. You know it’s funny I didn’t renew my elders of Zion membership card this month. Any how; I appreciate your comments. I just have to say from a religious standpoint; Jews actually do believe its our fault the world is in turmoil. Why you might ask? Well because we are supposed to be a light upon the nations. Because we have not followed the commandments of our Gd, the world unconsciously attacks us (because we are not doing what we are supposed to be doing). This does not justify doing evil to the Jews. On the contrary. Those that want to blame the Jews are only expressing the darkness within themselves. True truth seekers will not point the finger, but instead look within themselves. There is a “disturbance in the force”. Evil only flourishes when the good is weakened. The answer has always been VERY simple. Just be good people. Be nice, be kind, be generous (yah.. that means giving up some pennies for the poor.. A JEWISH CONCEPT). Recognize that we are all Gds creatures who should differentiate ourselves from animals. We believe Gd gave the torah to the Jews so that we should perfect ourselves as decent human beings and the world would then follow. Unfortunately we have many mixed individuals in the tribe. In any case, we should remember one point. When the world gathers to the destroy the Jewish nation (if the Jews do no do proper Teshuva.. which means returning to Gd), BE ON THE SIDE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. These moments in history which have already been written about will test people like at no other time. Our sages have already explained what will happen and they even expressed their fear about the tests soon to follow. Remember, Show your generosity, show kindness. Always prepare, but always remember! It’s darkest just before dawn.

    Greg,

Good for you. I’m so glad you are taking a stand against this type of posting. You’re right, let them host their own nasty posts. I appreciate a site where I can read thought provoking and insightful comments, without having to sort through the hate mail.

Thanks for all of the great interviews lately.

Soon we will have bi-metallic standard. Gold-Tungsten Standard.

    • BigTom

Aniket – Gold-Tungsten Standard! Good one! ILMAO- I’ve read somewhere the entities in china are now commercially producing such ingots and publicly selling them on the open market advertised as such! Competing against Ft. Knox I suppose. Secondary buyers beware…..

      • FredQuimby

This “It’s difficult/expensive to tell if it is real gold or not” is a new establishment meme to diss gold in the minds of the public and make people stay in paper….

        Don’t worry, just keep stackin’.

        Cheers!

  10. Matt

I love the site Greg and I check it daily. I am usually in agreement with all of the content but in the case of Ahmadinejad I see it slightly different. The aggressors are clearly Israel and the US, they are going out of their way to create daily propaganda in order to justify an attack/invasion.

Why is a leader unable to speak against these constant threats? Appeasement obviously doesn’t work, when the western countries make up their mind and then it simply becomes a matter of time. Just look at the countries that have nuclear weapons, how many of them does the US or other western powers threaten to overthrow? Isreal has plenty of nuclear weapons and Iran would certainly not risk attacking. We also hear the argument that these “regimes” are dangerously unstable and cannot have these dangerous weapons but look at North Korea, I don’t see them nuking neighboring countries.

I also don’t believe that any country has the right to police another especially when they do the exact opposite, nor do I support the existence in general of a weapon so destructive, but the hypocrisy is laughable.

With that said, keep up the content and I will keep on viewing!

    • Greg

Thank you Matt. I want as many views and analysis on the site as possible. I think we can all agree, what is going on in MENA is very dangerous. Folks should be prepared. That’s my main goal on the site.
      Greg

Matt, its about time someone objective makes a comment on here about Israel/Iran. I am disgusted with the propoganda following by so many neocons who desire war with Iran. So many people in the US believe in American exceptionalism. I think Americans need to travel outside of the US and open their minds a little.

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”
      Mark Twain

    Greg –

I agree with the rest of the commenters.
Thank you for taking a stand against the hate and ignorance.

The sooner we stop trying to generalize and blame ‘them’, the sooner we will start to look at the system itself.

    Kudos to you, sir.

    • Greg

Thank you Base for your support and kind words.

obama bush clinton. none of them wanted to go down as the leader that oversaw world war 3.we have no idea how bad things will get here at home when the first nuke goes off.

  13. Brian

I think a lot of the hateful, mostly incoherent comments stem from the fact that there are a lot of people out there that are very frustrated.

There have been unethical experiments in the past, which used electricity to show that chronic and desperate frustration can even turn cute little white bunny rabbits into inconsolably rabid, self- mutilative monsters.

Frustration based upon the perception of impotency in the face of growing and persistent crises can grow deep, deep, deep roots, and those roots can nourish a lot of anger, which easily ferments itself into a very long lasting stain of hate. Hate of course does not trade in the currency of reason…………

    • Greg

      Brian,
You may be right on this on man!

There’s something not quite Kosher about this wrap up, or were you just being facetious? How many have already crossed “the Red Line”?

    Hi Greg,
Looks like your weekly news wrap up has generated a lot of comments on the topic of negativity. Right now, not only are we half-way into 2012, a year of great prophecy, but we’re in a time period of challenging astrological aspects. What does that mean on a practical level? It means that we are all being forced to confront some of the things that we don’t feel comfortable with, when we don’t want to address them, and we’re not allowed to skirt the situation. I felt your tone was forceful, but it is necessary to “take a stand” to protect the context of your work, the idea nurturing diplomacy, and the opportunity to address challenging content without being vindictive. Your boundary-setting is healthy leadership and it’s really needed by our society–worldwide. So, thank you, Greg, for being an example of great leadership today.
    🙂 Diane

Hats off to you Greg. A man without a stand…..is not a man. I for one like your site best because its clean, and intelegent. Yes we disagree sometimes but as you taught me, we adults can disagree and still be respectfull.

    Greg,
GOOD FOR YOU GREG HUNTER! And good for us. Your site was a platform for criticism, news, and intelligent discourse but not a platform for haters, be they religious zealots or racists.
Do you think now that the Fed is buying the worthless MBS that the banks will go back to Mark to market accounting instead of mark to fantasy? The currencies are being debased and the US dollar is a fantasy at this point. Just look at who is buying US Treasury Bills…the major buyer by FAR is the Federal Reserve. Can someone explain how this works and why you don’t hear anyone making a big deal about it? I am a recent college graduate with high honors and it looks like a Ponzi scheme to me. So who is the patsy putting in the new money? The US taxpayer, the slight majority that actually pays federal income tax and anyone with a 401-K or an IRA that will be confiscated.

    • Greg

      George Too,
we have never been here before with this much global debt and derivative leverage. Anything can happen. Thank you my friend!!!

  18. Robert E, Salt

Someone well known said that Netanyahu and Ahmadinejad were in cahoots. It seemed ridiculous to me at first, but makes sense the more I think about it. Building up hatred between two sides (Muslims and Christians) that don’t know each other very well could fuel a worldwide conflict. This is exactly what mainstream media has been doing the last twelve years. Muslims had nothing to do with the 9/11 massacre. It’s important that everyone resist the hate mongering and not play the fool. I commend you for taking a stand, Greg. It’s good to have a real journalist we can rely on for truth. Keep up the good work.

    • Mashal

I imagine a more positive future will be made possible by the most patriotic, Just, and truth-seeking segment of American society.
