Islamic State-Loose Artillery Shell on the Deck of the Ship of History-James Howard Kunstler

44By Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com

Veteran journalist and author, James Howard Kunstler, is worried about the violence heating up in the Middle East–especially Saudi Arabia.  Kunstler says, “Saudi Arabia is between a rock and a hard place, or should I say Iraq and a hard place.  Both sides that are now contending in Iraq, the Shiite and the Islamic State or caliphate, are both not friendly with Saudi Arabia.  When we talk about Saudi Arabia, we have to make a distinction.  We are really talking about the Saud Family and their Kingdom and their grip on the Kingdom. . . . Now, they are stuck between the Iran sponsored Iraqi government—Shiites and the Sunni Islamic State rebels who do not want to see the Saudi Kingdom continue.”

There is no viable peace process anywhere in the Middle East, and Kunstler goes on to say, “We’ve never really seen much disorder in Saudi Arabia in our lifetimes.  The kind of disorder that is going on all over the Middle East and North Africa has simply not been happening in Saudi Arabia.  So, really, all bets are off.  This ISIS, Islamic State, group is a true black swan.  It came out of nowhere about three of four weeks ago and dismantled the 8 year and several trillion dollar project of nation building, and 4,500 American lives lost, that the U.S. has been carrying on.  We really don’t know where they are going next.  We don’t know where this thing is going.  This thing is literally a loose artillery shell on the deck of the ship of history.”

Kunstler goes on to point out, “You probably noticed that we are not shooting at anybody because we don’t know what to shoot at and how to do the shooting right now.  Just about everything we have done in the entire region has been counterproductive and has produced more chaos.  It may be an unfortunate fact there is not much more we can do.  Life is tragic, and there are consequences to the things we do to people, and societies make bad choices and they have to live with them, and we have to live with the bad choices we’ve made with the interventions in the Middle East, and we have no idea where this thing is going.”  I think you and me and just about everyone else would not like to enter some sort of World War III situation.  If Saudi Arabia goes off-line, I think you going to see an awful lot of stress in the global economy.  I think there are a lot of people in Washington at this moment that are very, very nervous.  We just aren’t seeing it.”

Kunstler also says that society is totally unprepared for what is coming.  His upcoming book, “A History of the Future,” continues a fictional story of what America is like after a societal meltdown caused by the loss of cheap oil.  Even though this is fiction, it is anchored in massive research Kunstler does on oil, energy and the economy.  Kunstler says, “I wrote this nonfiction book back in 2005 called “The Long Emergency.”  That really kind of laid out the initial case for peak oil and the financial shenanigans that were under way and were disrupting the banking system and really the capital formation system in the whole developed world.” After that, he wrote of series of fictional books about what life would be like after a real economic crash.  Kunstler says, “I wanted to get to the readers in a visceral way to tell them what the consequences of these disruptions might be.  These people are living an 1830’s lifestyle again, and there has been a considerable die-off in the population.  I wrote a book for each of the four seasons and this latest one, “A History of the Future.”  In this book, the nation has broken up into several breakaway nations.  I think this book is disturbing but a lot of fun.”

The World is going chaotic. I am not sure how much I care anymore. With the recent illegal immigration and many, many in your face type of legislation, I am not sure what I can do other than prepare. People are asleep. Talking to a democrat is like talking to a rock (I would rather talk to a rock)….I would encourage nobody to join the forces these days. You are just pawns….Maranatha!!!!

    • Galaxy 500

      Dude,
Many of my acquaintances are current or former military. The ones that did their twenty are incensed that the government is changing the covenant AFTER they have paid blood, sweat, time, and tears. They are angry over what they see as a purge of good military men to put Obama’s sycophants in positions of power in the military. They are being betrayed, just like the rest of us.
Obama views the military, not as pawns, but as patriots to be feared and destroyed. Thats why DSH is selling MRVs to the Barney Fifes out there and why DHS considered retired and former military as domestic terrorists. Go figure?
You serve your country and they consider you a threat.

      • Galaxy 500

And the news justed showed Obama shooting pool while America burns….bizarre theatrics and impotent rhetoric…thats our guy, Obama, putting the “I” in INCOMPETENCE

        • Paul from Indiana

TRULY a NERO moment, if there ever were one. We could not have asked for a better visual metaphor of our situation. Best always. PM

        G500
Totally agree with you. I’m taking a friend (who served in Nam) to the VA hospital Friday for surgery. He told me the other day. “I’m not sure what we fought for”?

        • Nick O

He fought for the Fortune 500.

      • Galaxy 500

        Greg,
        Sorry.for the.posting bombs
Obama asked for the Palestinian American teenager arrested for throwing rocks at the army to be released by Israel. Yes, the Israelites beat the dog poop out of him…if he’s there.throwing rocks he deserved it (imho).
So.Obama has time for this but NOT for the Marine thats been held in Mexico over a 100 days….shows you what he thinks is important, and what he.doesnt

        • Michael

So you think it’s ok for the Israeli military to beat a bound and helpless Palestinian teenager with no proof that he did anything wrong. Remember that the jews in Israel are living on stolen land after removing the Palestinians from the land their families owned for generations. It seems to me that they learned very little or how to treat others from their experience of the horrors of the holocaust. Now those they stole the land from have been relegated to an open air ghetto and prison. Disgusting.

          • Greg Hunter

            Micheal,
There is lots of sin to go around. To Israel’s credit they arrested 6 people involved in burning that Palestinian teen. No one I know of has been arrested in the abduction of the three Israeli teens who were murdered allegedly by Hamas. Let’s be objective here.
            Greg

          • Galaxy 500

Why yes, as a matter of fact I do. Dont throw rocks at people with guns. Dont go.to.foreign countries and act a.fool. I have traveled enough to know that America’s Bill of Rights doesn’t follow you around the word. I have seen drunk Americans scream at the East German Police that they have rights….from what I saw, the only rights they had were to be battered with batons. And they should have used their phone call to call.someones besides me. I do not post bail money for acquaintances.
I was ok.with.the.guy getting caned in Singapore for vandalizing cars.

          • Galaxy 500

I seem to recall that the one true God gave them Israel.

      • Alarmed

It is difficult to say what Obama “thinks,” but according to Wikiquote, “In Haig’s presence, Kissinger referred pointedly to military men as “dumb, stupid animals to be used” as pawns for foreign policy.”
What bothers me most, is that illegal, WRONG deeds are being smeared into our faces, and no one in position of power is willing to say ne’er a word. Is everyone in such a position on the side of evil???? Or in fear of it???

      • Frank

That’s why anyone still in the U.S. military needs to get out and instead train our militias.

        • Ugly

I agree. Skip the military. Stay home and help….

No disrespect 500, but I am not good at being politically correct and I have wanted to respond to your “vote republican to solve the USA’s problem” since you are like me and support our troops fully.

No f’n way we are voting ourselves out of this mess. Our govt, the f’n criminal politicians, the bankers and last but not least the f’n corps.

They are owned by satan and they will kill most of us if we do not “don the full armor of God and send them all back to hell.”

THAT is how the earth works. You either get it or you don’t.

I have a lot of friends that are Viet Nam vets. Most of them had our corps, our gub and our politicians dump agent orange over them for years telling them it was ok…and now they are being shit on.

Keep yapping about Obama…the bushes, the Clintons, the grahams, the mcains, the cruzes, the mcconnells, the pelosis, the boxers, Frankenstein who wants our firearms and all the rest…don’t give a shit about us.

Sorry Greg, I can only take so much…the bottom line is there is a battle going on for humanities soul…your either with God or with satan.

One better make the right choice.

I know that brother. It has always been very clear where you stand…you as well 500.

I just had a discussion with a friend who lives in Texas and he was raving about all of the illegals flooding in there etc., etc. and who, how it will be stopped.

I simply told him. It will only be stopped one way…when the people of the US have HAD enough. I asked him, “where is your big conservative, republican gov rick perry at?

He couldn’t answer. Where are all of your of your republican elected leaders at? No answer.

I told him, you get it (he does, we have talked about it before) but you just cannot make your mind accept (because the system that you work in has made you lots of $) that all of the things that you have and ‘worked for’ will be GONE. No more mobility. No more wealth.

I told him we basically work pay check to pay check and it is getting even more difficult for us as biz owners…Why would they NOt support us. I’ll tell you why, because we do NOT need them. They depise us for wanting to go it on our own.

His corp owns him. Regardless of the facts, you 500, al, and the rest here are more free every day.

My seal buddy says it best…”don’t go down without one helluva fight”

The world is crazy and US is crazy. I love this country and I am so lucky to live here but Tim Weiner’s “Legacy of Ashes” shows the ham handed way we(CIA) have jumped into others affairs with both feet and then been incredibly stupid. The founders said ” friends with all, alliances with none.” The people running the show have the ability to really screw things up. And for us little people, it always comes back to being prepared. There is the possibility of no power and having to do what Kunstler suggests. I have recently discovered the old, but increasingly popular, idea of permaculture. This is possible for anyone even in cities with raised garden beds, trellises and large pots. MAKE YOUR YARD OR SPACE EDIBLE. It works in any climate, only the choice of plants will be different. Next year I will plant nut trees and start growing mushrooms in the understory (great for the immune system). Plus you can barter with nuts and pine nuts. Organic pecans are $18/lb!! The DVD “Global Gardener:with Bill Mollison will help people understand more. And there are many books and YouTube videos on permaculture. Finally, I was a little peeved about the Tenessee female white racist stereotype. I was lucky enough to live in N Carolina for 6 years and being a “yankee” I found that there were more racists in Detroit than I found in the south. Also, unfortunately, I have known some white racists and they too were yankees. The south gets a bad rap.

Satan loves lies and murder. Thus it is no coincident that his greatest tool is governments. Lots of powerful evil men and women are behind FedGov’s curtain, but follow their chain of command and you find Satan himself.

There is hope, but not in the tyrannical government which our Founder’s Republic has morphed into. We are now much more concerned with preserving liberty than preserving a government, especially one successfully hijacked by evil.

    • Michigander

Diane, Satan’s greatest tool, is, discouragement, though human governments sure can be discouraging!

The following little story illustrates; which simply put is: Don’t let the devil discourage you.

Once upon a time it was announced that the devil was going out of business and would sell all his equipment to those who were willing to pay the price.

On the big day of the sale, all his tools were attractively displayed. There was Envy, Jealousy, Hatred, Malice, Deceit, Sensuality, Pride, Idolatry, and other implements of evil on display. Each of the tools was marked with its own price tag.

Over in the corner by itself was a harmless-looking, wedge-shaped tool very much worn down, but still it bore a higher price than any of the others. Someone asked the devil what it was, and he answered, “That is Discouragement.” The next question came quickly: “And why is it priced so high even though it is plain to see that it is more worn than these others?”

“Because,” replied the devil, “it is more useful to me than all these others. I can pry open and get into a man’s heart with that when I cannot get near him with any other tool. Once I get inside, I can use him in whatever way suits me best. It is worn well because I use it on everybody I can, and few people even know it belongs to me.”

This tool was priced so high that no one could buy it, and to this day it has never been sold. It still belongs to the devil, and he still uses it on mankind. (Author Unknown)

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. (Galatians 6:9)

The Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 4:8-10, “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in dispair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;” In other words discouragement may creep in occasionally but it need not be permanent nor overpowering. So long as we keep our focus on our Source the son of God Jesus Christ and continue to get up each and every time we are knocked down.

Have you ever been discouraged? Consider this account: There was a man who failed in business in ’31. He was defeated for the legislature in ’32. He failed again in business in ’34. His sweetheart died in ’35. He suffered a nervous breakdown in ’36. He was defeated in election in ’38. He was defeated for Congress in ’43, ’46, and ’48. He was defeated for the Senate in ’55. He was defeated for the Vice-presidency in ’56. He was defeated again for the Senate in ’58. Yet in 1860 Abraham Lincoln became President of the United States of America.

Discouragement is Satan’s most effective tool. Don’t let it keep you from becoming all God intends for you to be. …
      Discouragement — Satan’s Greatest Weapon

Cripple him, and you have a Sir Walter Scott. Lock him in a prison cell, and you have a John Bunyan. Bury him in the snows of Valley Forge, and you have a George Washington. Raise him in abject poverty and you have an Abraham Lincoln. Strike him down with infantile paralysis, and he becomes Franklin Roosevelt. Burn him so severely that the doctors say he’ll never walk again, and you have a Glenn Cunningham — who set the world’s one mile record in 1934. Deafen him and you have a Ludwig van Beethoven. Have him or her born black in a society filled with racial discrimination, and you have a Booker T. Washington, a Marian Anderson, a George Washington Carver. Call him a slow learner, “retarded,” and write him off as uneducable, and you have an Albert Einstein. Hit him with all the wrath of the maimed steamed media and you have a Greg Hunter, founder of the wildly popular, and hated, but always eagerly watched, USAWatchdog!
As one man summed it up: Life is about 20% in what happens to us and 80% in the way we respond to the events.

      See: Rom 12:21; Phil 1:12-14

The people who consistently manifest the greatest joy in life are those who will simply not be discouraged by their circumstances. As author Zig Zigler says, “If life hands you a lemon, take the lemon and make lemonade.” Let me close with several examples: Charles Goodyear’s lemon was a prison sentence, resulting from a contempt of court citation. While in prison, Goodyear didn’t complain. Instead, he became an assistant in the kitchen. While there, he continued to work on an idea. In the process he discovered a method for vulcanizing rubber. His lemon, a prison sentence, became our lemonade. We have better tires, which means better travel and a better way of life.

      See: Phil 1:12-14; Phil 4:11; 1 Thess 5:18

In 1835 a man visited a doctor in Florence, Italy. He was filled with anxiety and exhausted from lack of sleep. He couldn’t eat, and he avoided his friends. The doctor examined him and found that he was in prime physical condition. Concluding that his patient needed to have a good time, the physician told him about a circus in town and its star performer, a clown named Grimaldi. Night after night he had the people rolling in the aisles. “You must go and see him,” the doctor advised. “Grimaldi is the world’s funniest clown. He’ll make you laugh and cure your sadness.” “No,” replied the despairing man, “he can’t help me. You see, I am Grimaldi!”

      See: Job 4:3-5

      Charles Spurgeon 1834-1892

Spurgeon: called to a church at 23, addressing crowds of 5000 at 30. He wrote this:
Before any great achievement in my life, some measure of depression is very usual. Such was my experience when I first became a pastor in London; my success appalled me and the thought of that career which seemed to be opening up, so far from elating me, cast me into the lowest depths out of which I uttered my misery. I found no room for a Gloria in Excelsis.
Who was I that I should continue to lead so great a multitude? I would slip away to my village obscurity or prefer to emigrate to American and find a solitary nest in the backwoods.
It was just then that the curtain was rising on my greatest life’s work and I dreaded what it might reveal to me. I hope I was not faithless! But I was timorous and filled with a sense of my own unfitness. This depression sweeps over me whenever the Lord is preparing a larger blessing for my life and ministry.
Some of you are right at the door.

      See: Isa 41:10; 2 Cor 12:9-10

Charles Spurgeon looked back upon dark hours in his own life and said:
I bear willing witness that I owe more to the fire, and the hammer, and the file, than to anything else in my Lord’s workshop. I sometimes question whether I have ever learned anything except through the rod. When my schoolroom is darkened, I see most.

“Though I walk through the Valley of Deep Shadow, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”
      – Psalm 23:4
“And i’ll trust you to walk me right out and hopefully, arrive alive!” My version.

Michigander. Great post. People do not realize that Satan is the prince and power of the air, and the real battle is between God and Satan. Many are called, but few are chosen (make the proper choice.). I never thought I would see the end times or the beginning of the end times.

Oh boy…As ‘brilliant’ a man like Mr. Kunstler is – and I do credit him with being visionary to a degree, these East Coast Jews just can’t help themselves when it comes to taking cheap shots at the Goy – if even in a fictional setting, the (unfounded) ‘fear’ is palpable… To wit, his closing remarks on the ubiquitous ‘white supremacist’ group hold up in Tennessee, by no less than a female evangelist leader… One shudders to think of what the left-wing version of that stereotype would be… Janet Napolitano crossed with Ruth Bader Ginsburg? The mind boggles…

In any event, would fate have it for us to be so lucky as the portrayal of Mr. Kunstler’s post econo-apocalypto world of Neo-agrarians slogging through the new beginning… A far worse fate in the ‘real world’ however, awaits. And we are witness to the forging of this modern-day governmental, iron-handed Beast right now in our midst, even if bootlickers suggest it’s all ‘right-wing conspiracy theory’… Billions of rounds of ammunition purchases. RFQ’s going out for body armor and select-fire rifles in the multi-thousands for the myriad alphabet-soup agencies; mock towns replete with churches, subways, sidewalks, condo’s, etc., sufficient for ‘optimal’ training of crack ‘Shock-troops’ in realistic Americana settings…

Yeah, and they’re going to leave the New-aged Neo-agrarians alone to farm & forage for themselves, right…? Not that it hurts to learn how to be self-sufficient, mind you. In spite of the iron-clad Authoritarian attack dogs who lurk right around the next econo-armageddo, there will indeed be areas reasonably ‘left alone’ – for perhaps a spell anyway. See folks, ‘evil’ – as embodied by rogue governments, Never Rest. It’s not in their nature to live & let live, and the evil that resides in our corridors of power is No different than the evils of government’s past, for it is human nature. As the Father of this Nation warned almost 300 years ago, regarding the ‘dangerous servant and fearful master’, Government is Not Reason…

    Peace –

An insightful interview with Mr. Kunstler. One thing that was overlooked was the importance of Saudi Arabia with respect to the Petro Dollar. While Saudi Arabia is important as a fuel supplier, its more important to the US as the prime enforcer of demand for the dollar, without which, the dollar and our standard of living would decline dramatically. Here is a primer on why Saudi Arabia matters: http://smaulgld.com/why-saudi-arabia-matters-in-helping-to-keep-the-u-s-dollar-as-the-worlds-reserve-currency/

    Greg;

Slowly freedom of the Press is becoming more and more intolerant. the govmnt is after our guns, removing “our rights”, chipping away; enter FEMA CAMPS.

Our history begins with 2 HUGE REASONS for the pilgrims fleeing Leiden Holland. They were branded ‘seperitists’, and printed pamphlets, against THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND, headed by king james of england. This PRINTING WAS ILLEGAL, punished by possible death, for sure imprisonment.
Our MSM ceo’s have relatives ingrained in the obama admin. Thus the ‘SILENT PRESS’.

One of the ships headed to the new world, ie pilgrams, had a mast broken, and brewsters “great screw’ used for printing saved the day, holding the new mast in place, ‘i seem to remember this from reading long ago’.

The printing press was a relative new invention and Brewster had his in one of the side buildings of the Peter’s Church (you can admire a large interior painting of the church at that time in the Dutch Gallery in the Ringling Museum of Art). The painter Jan Lievens -a friend of Rembrandt van Rijn- lived in the same side building a few years later. Here Brewster printed his stirring pamphlets and books against King James, which were smuggled into England. Possession of these pamphlets and books in England meant long prison sentences or worse. The Pilgrim Press became the cause for a political incident between Holland and England, but the Dutch did not interfere with Brewster.

The KEY to our future, is not gold and silver, but our freedom to worship CHRIST, and to be able to speak freely and have reasonable dissent, ie THE JOURNALST, THE WRITER.

I was reading about this guy Kunstler yest. from a FB post, showed a guy with long white tee shirt, short pants sticking out at his ankles, loose shoes, hat sideways, thank GOD, NO BUTT CRACK.

And the so-called mainstream media, still smarting from the black eye McCarthy gave them, are providing the cover. Collectivism and statism, as championed by the Left, are proving to be our downfall. I know some people actually believe that there is some vast conspiracy that just had to destroy the whole building to keep the “evidence” from coming out. Sorry, I dont believe that there is any thing they couldn’t have just stolen.
Some people where claiming a while back that special planetary alignment was going to trigger disaster. Some people , like myself, prefer to look at things based on likely cause and effect.
And yes, I know that there are engineers that claim Bldg 7 had to be done as an inside job….just like the scientists that make the bogus claim on man made global warming. Just because a group of people say something doesnt sway me if the evidence isnt there. There are plenty of people looking to press their own agenda. I try to factor that in when I weight things.

Greg: I saw your guest interview today but have not listen yet. I read the front page write up. So you are aware- Several years ago in one of Lindsey Williams interviews, before the middle east had all these wars, before the Egypt, Libya, Syria, problems, Lindsey stated these would happen. And, he stated the order they would happen.
What struck me about reading the first paragraph of this latest interview is what he is saying about Saudi Arabia. When Lindsey said these things about the middle east, he was told that Saudi Arabia would be last to have problems. He stated that when this happened it would be a major sign the final “elite” move was near, start of the New World Order agenda. He also had stated that near the end- the signs/ the happenings would increase like birth pangs. I notices these world problems are increasing- problems everywhere.

Just wanted you to be aware – Saudi Arabia – is a major sign for the world collapse to happen and the new world order takeover. I will listen to this and forward to James and Lindsey referencing what Lindsey said back then. I’ll let you know what I hear later.
    Regards-

    • Greg Hunter

Thank you Al. I agree Saudi Arabia is a very big piece of the collapse puzzle.

    http://www.popsci.com/blog-network/eastern-arsenal/chinese-drones-soon-flying-over-saudi-arabia
Can a Petro-Yuan be that far behind? Its just another example of how the United States is being isolated by the rest of the world. Have you thought about what the United States would look like, if the dollar loses world reserve status, and oil backing at the same time? I’m sure the PTB have.

The Saudis were not happy with how Syria went down, and now we have ISIS pushing them right into the arms if the Chinese. This is not going to end well for us.

    • Greg Hunter

      Jerry,
I believe the Saudis actually said the Obama Administration “stabbed them in the back” over Syria. That is a blunt and powerful statement from the country that is the lynchpin of the petrodollar. I think a big dislocation happens this year. Thank you for all the analysis and information you are providing to this site.

Greg, entertaining interview. Good job. I used to follow his blog years ago. I find he is a much better fiction writer than he is a predictor of the future. I read “A Witch from Hebron” and found it entertaining. Picked it up on the discount rack at BooksAMillion a few years ago. I recommend it.
He’s been preaching peak oil for twenty plus years. Like a psychic predicting the same thing over and over, like a broken clock, will be right at some point. We will run out of oil at some point. He/We may not live to see it but it will happen unless less God sends his Son before then.
And as far as ISIS coming out of nowhere three or four weeks ago, people have been warning about these a$$hats for nearly a year.

Greg, meanwhile with all that said Wall Street and the elite pigs gobble up the FED’s printing bubble, so fat now their eyes are bulging out of focus and can’t see butcher coming. Same with the Saudi population, the laziest society ever on the planet, free entitlements for everything, just wait till the oil goes co put. Meanwhile again, the American people with their entitlement mentality is closely behind the Saudi’s in their cravings for free living. I am a long time reader of your guest, astute, well researched, intelligent man who never has wore rose colored glasses. It is amazing when you can see through the American political bull crap inundating one from all angles, they call them radicals, always have, always will until what they say comes true then they become prophets. The Middle East is going to war, its just a matter of time, imagine that, the Saudi people will actually have to get off their ass and pickup a 8 pound rifle to continue to rape the world’s economy with its overpriced oil production. However, before they fire a shot more than likely they will insist that the U.S. do their fighting for them and I’m sure our learned Congress will be, as usual, take their bribes and do their bidding at the expense of our dutiful & naive young. My thought is get out of the Middle East and stop meddling for the sake of the American big oil sows.

Your guest said that Americans adults were becoming more childish in the way they dress. I would go further and say they are already childish in their mentality. There is this constant theme of collapse (your guest included) about what will happen when the financial system collapses. It is a sign that Americans have never in their recent history known a time where invading armies and World War destroyed the their country.
Well I’ve got news for you as an Englishman and an European. It’s happened twice in Europe in the last 100 years. People managed to survive in fact it brought out the best in most. We didn’t go back to the dark-ages. This constant Mad-Max scenario is like the computer game mentality that now seems to be all pervading on all American internet sites.
Stop being such desperate cry babies that are constantly living in fear.
Look to our history in Europe. There was great deprivation for a while but things quickly started to return to normal.
Your guest hit on one truth and that was there was no real reporting from the Middle East. So where was he getting his ‘true’ information from? Manufactured stories from the mainstream press and the internet?
How do you really know what is going on? During WWII we were fed all sorts of propaganda constantly that wasn’t true.

    • Alarmed

“Your guest said that Americans adults were becoming more childish in the way they dress. I would go further and say they are already childish in their mentality. ”

I agree. It is annoying. Volumes could be written to support your statement. It is a sad commentary to our managed and controlled “society.”

    • Anne Elliott

George- I hope you’re right about the collapse not being so bad, but you’re forgetting the youth and even adults of American society are the childlike people who never grew up. If a collapse happens, who’s to say they won’t act childlike and throw a tantrum and/or act out their favorite shoot and rape video in anticipation of the Mad Max life that they perceive to have come upon them? This is my fear.

  19. George Tirebiter

Kunstler should stick to the ‘end of cheap oil focus’, since he is either extremely naive, willfully ignorant, or in on the deception concerning international political events.
The primary litmus test he failed has been his support of the conspiracy theory put forth by the government concerning 911, in spite of the overwhelming evidence that the official version is patently false.
This makes all of his other ‘expert’ political comments highly suspect.
Best to stick to writing future fantasy.

  20. Larry

Ugly, the sense you have that world is totally coming unglued is held by many of us. If we are going to have humanity in the future in this world we are going to have to be able to transsition from one paradym to another with some sense of morals and values to pass on to succeeding generation. Losing those values means a world in total chaos. We have to believe for humanity’s sake that people serve a purpose beyond their own selfishness.

    • Galaxy 500

  22. HTC

Greg, I’d like to hear from you and your commenters whether you think people will still go to work after this reset/collapse occurs? My thinking is that if the dollar can’t be used to buy much if anything at all who will continue to work? At the same time I don’t believe we will lose utilities or internet or communications, I feel like the ruling elite almost need it as a means to control the population. If all was lost and returned to 1800’s lifestyles I simply can’t see how a small few could control the millions. I think you’re right when you say we will see something big this year, I feel it is coming faster than most would like to think. Please give me your take on the employment scenario, thanks!

    • Paul from Indiana

Employment is based on markets, as markets serve the demand-and-supply of a constituency. A currency debasement, or an outright collapse, interrupts (at best) or destroys (at worst) the workings of markets. Assuming chaos is not at the level of total societal disruption, people will try to maintain their normal daily lives, but when no customers show up at McDonald’s after 2-3-4 days, or at Wal-Mart because nothing is left on the shelves, there will be no employment, since the market is disrupted.

    • Jerry

      HTC
Look for an overall disruption of the system for 90-120 days. it will take that long for things to stabilize to some resemblance of normality under martial law. A new currency will be installed to replace the dollar, because the dollar will be worthless. About 70% worth less. Work? What would you be working for? The company you worked for will probably not exist anymore, since most have their assets tied to the Stock Market or derivatives. Keep your money out of the bank like yesterday, and leave only what you need to pay bills.

      • Galaxy 500

If you are.correct, this country.will not resemblance a civilization at the.end of 90-120.days without electricity, food and water. Based on the massive welfare state and the lack of foresight, riots and roving bands of thugs will rule the streets.
I still.have high.confidence I am.on the winning side of this bet but it wont be long before we know for.sure. I will.give you that we are surrounded by multiple situations that could easily and quickly spiral into.disaster. I dont believe there’s a man behind the curtain pulling the levers which puts me at odds with many.

        Jerry;
After 9/11, New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor was one of a select group of individuals asked to assist the United States government in “war gaming” the next move of radical jihadists.

Why? Because he and other thriller writers had demonstrated an uncanny ability to predict events years before they occur. Thor warned of the NSA spying scandal in his book “Black List,” and predicted the release of five of the most dangerous Guantanamo Bay detainees seven years ago in “The First Commandment.”

So where does Thor believe we are headed next?

    • Galaxy 500

Weimar Germany had hyper inflation and near full employment. BUT they were a manufacturing economy…the exports kept business chugging along until everything fell apart. What exactly do we really manufacturer here that would keep people working? Agriculture is highly mechanized. Maybe we will start again as a manufacturing country…rise up from the ashes as it were.
I see people going to work until it becomes apparent that the pay out is less than what Obama will give you to sit on your a$$.

Then they will be demonized and hunted in some way.
Then the sheep will all be corralled .

  23. Paul from Indiana

OK, Gang, let’s give it up to Greg! Like this guy Kunstler or not, Greg has brought him in as one answer for all the many people who, having conceded the collapse, are clamoring for what it will “look like” AFTER the collapse! Bravo, Greg, and well stroked!

For those who are trying to divine the “after”, you should at least know it’s going to be different BIG-TIME from what you have going now. That alone should get you moving in the direction of preparedness. And the guiding principle is: what would I need to keep/stay/maintain my “normal” when things get “different”? Best-case scenario: things just get much more expensive. Worst-case scenario: there are NO THINGS. Best always. PM

You want the full tilt? Here it is. The dollar will begin its spiraling decent from an event on 7/15 that will trigger a moonshot with silver in august. This will put so much pressure on the dollar that it will create a gradual collapse in stages leading to a nuclear exchange between the U.S. , China, and Russia in the year 2017. There you have it straight from the City of London. Be my guest. Theorize all you want, but it won’t change the inevitable. G500. for the record, I really hope your right.

Kunstler is constantly bagging on the South. It’s one of the reasons I stopped following the comments on his blog. He bans or threatens to ban anyone who questions the allegiance the U.S. has to Israel. I read “The Long Emergency” years ago and found much truth to its main thesis; that is, we’ve squandered the easy oil into a barren, car-dependent wasteland here in the States. Kunstler loves to depict Southerners as ignorant hayseeds who spend every waking hour following Nascar. He pokes fun of Southern Christians because he’s an arrogant New York Jew. He is a Zionist and completely intolerant of any and all viewpoints which point out the parasitic, twisted, perverted relationship the U.S. has with Israel. If you really want to find out what Israel is up to in the Middle East and how they oppress and willfully destroy innocents in Gaza, read RT. RT, along with Information Clearing House, is enough to curl your hair. As you point out, Greg, the MSM is nothing less than a rotted out, vacant shell of a dead locust.

    • Galaxy 500

As a Southern boy, born and bred…by the grace of God….I have old photos of family in their CSA uniforms . They were proud to fight for their freedom in the war of northern aggression.
I dont understand how a fellow southern can side with a terrorist organization against God’s people in the land he promised them. If Mexico was firing rockets into Texas or if Mexican military assets were kidnapping children and murdering them…you wouldnt have to wait for Obama to act. As in the times of the Alamo, my Southern brothers would go and assit the Texans in razing Mexico to the ground.
(ALERT This is allegory…its not a call to arms against Mexico…but it would be really nice if we had a real border and prosecuted / persecuted those that came here illegally)

And the question I think we all want to know is…. will we have to go to work on July 16th?? 😉

Thanks for any more insight you can give.

PS… thanks to Greg for giving us a place to share and discuss info.

      • Jerry

        Vanelli 56
I have to be honest with you, the information I’m getting is so vast, I’m not sure I totally understand it myself. Here’s what I am surmising. There will be an event on 7/15 ( possibly a battle between Russia and Ukraine / NATO) that will cause the silver prices to skyrocket in August putting tremendous pressure on the dollar. From what I’m told, from there the collapse will occur in stages picking up speed through the rest of the year ending the first quarter of 2015. It could veer in different directions along the way. Will you have to go to work on the 16th? Yes. This is not the end. But the beginning of the end. Don’t wait to prepare because it will be more difficult to do later on as inflation begins to pick up speed.

        • Greg Hunter

          Jerry,
Are your sources saying gold will go up relative to the USD as well. Not giving you a hard time, but why the focus on silver?
          Greg

There is no longer going to be a.London fix on silver.

          • Jerry

The City plans to use silver as the primary backstop for a new currency for everyday barter and trade. In their view Gold is out of reach for most people. At least that’s what I’m told. Looking back, that makes since. Historically silver was used more in some form of currency than gold was.

            • Greg Hunter

“Young people no longer respect their parents. They are rude and impatient. They frequently inhabit taverns and have no self-control.”

    Socrates 400 BC…
“Our youth now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company; gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers.”

    Plato in 300 BC…
“What is happening to our young people? They disrespect their elders, they disobey their parents. They ignore the law. They riot in the streets, inflamed with wild notions. Their morals are decaying. What is to become of them?”

Peter (a religious leader) in 1274…
“The young people of today think of nothing but themselves. They have no reverence for parents or old age. They are impatient of all restraint … As for the girls, they are forward, immodest and unladylike in speech, behaviour and dress.”

Historian Geoffrey Pearson quotes a 60 year old woman in 1843… “I think morals are getting much worse… There were no such girls in my time as there are now. When I was four or five and twenty my mother would have knocked me down if I had spoken improperly to her”

And do any of us need quotes to remember society’s panic on the condition of youth culture in the 50s and the 60s… “same as it ever was!”

      Jerry,
I think they will print until it blows up.

….”Terrorism is the best political weapon for nothing drives people harder than a fear of sudden death.”
    — Adolf Hitler

Last week, we witnessed four denominations, emboldened by this criminal, “sodomite-advocating” administration, joining the ranks of the apostate in America. Namely, the United Church of Christ (that claims 1 million members with about 5,200 congregations), the Presbyterian Church USA, the Moravians (who voted to ordain gay clergy), as well as the Pentecostal Church International (1 Timothy 4:1).

      Allen,
At its core I think this is an attack on religious freedom which is the main reason the USA was founded. You have two opposing forces here and those are equal protection and religious freedom.

  33. HTC

Hey, Thanks Paul and Jerry for your comments I appreciate it. I somewhat expected there to be a delay in “normal” life until a new currency was introduced. You mention, 90-120 days but how exactly will businesses get started up again if all they held were dollars? If companies cash is worth 70% less I can’t imagine they could gain much by converting their dollars to yuan? It’s a mystery to me how these things work. Not that it makes a bit of difference to me in the end as I know who my provider is, just like to try and figure out the game plan is all.

    • Jerry

      HTC
That’s the plan. But you know how plans go. What people need to understand is the middle class and the poor are always the losers in a power shift. Wealth is not going away, its being transferred to something else. Gold and Silver. Yes fortunes were lost during the depression, but fortunes were mad to. As far as death, 3 million people died as well from starvation, so that’s nothing new either. What is new, its on a global scale.

  34. Bruce B

Why do people always feel the need to smear white people who join together to help each other as “Nazis”? Are Israelis Nazis? Are Mexicans Nazis? Is the Cosby show a Nazi program? They would be if they were white. Even Seinfeld was called racist for this.

So America breaks up, but he feels the need to point out that there will be a white-only area, and bring Hitler into it? Why? I’m pretty sure California will not be white-friendly if this happens. La Raza and La Voz de Atzlan (not to mention MEChA) have stated their ethnic cleansing policies. It’s becoming more and more clear that “anti-racist” is usually just a code-word for “anti-white”. Is Kunstler anti-white? I wonder. I get a certain vibe from his writings, as though one single race is the main cause of all the problems in the world.

I can tell you this much: the black and Hispanic zones of a broken up America will be far more dangerous places than the white areas – for anyone.

I’ve had enough of this anti-white BS masquerading as anti-racism. It’s EVERYWHERE!

  35. 02144pomroy

Kunstler. Writing a book admittedly making fun of Southerners using the old arrogant northeastern liberal stereotype of crazy bible thumping white supremacist killers . Hopefully he will be just as arrogant in writing about a bunch of atheistic, pedophile homosexual/transvestite killers centered in San Francisco. Rue Paul meets Adolph Hitler.
Glad Greg that you made an attempt to politely straighten him out at the end of the interview. I don’t know if I could have been as nice. 🙂

  36. EyesWideShut

    Greg,

The interview was great, but you’ve had much better guest! Mr. Kunstler must be living in a cave to believe that ISIS came out of “no where”! I can trace where ISIS came from quite easily. They were trained in Jordan as part of al Qaeda, and splintered off. This is all public information so where has he been? Why is he spewing main stream propaganda to your enlightened audience? Further, I don’t buy his nonsense about peak oil. Like I’ve said, there are more than enough resources to go around in this world if a few greedy countries would stop over consumption! His selective view of the world makes him not credible. And I’ve read “The Long Emergency”.

  37. art barnes

Greg, let me say what I really feel, Saudi Arabia and its oil imposed threats of pay the high price or else we slow down production be dammed. Can’t wait till the lazy citizens of that country have to have oil for dinner. As the “Donald” has said “they don’t have to sell oil at the world price, they can sell it at any price they want, including a lot cheaper; its there oil…”. The Saudi Arabia oil stick up the American behind should remind all Americans just who is our friends and who are not! I don’t understand the American policy of befriending this back stabbing nation, have we all forget about 1973?

    Greg,
Here is a prediction: Israel is going into Hamas controlled areas and destroy the rockets…and hopefully as many Hamas fanboys as they can find.

    Greg,
More magic from the Obama administration. Their EPA says it has power to garnish.wages….what???
I guess that they will use this power to punish us for expelling CO2 when we exhale.

And they dont need to go to court to do it. I guess they are getting ready to act as judge, jury and executioner. Just like Obama…no rule of law

    GREG;

    Billionaire Hugo Salinas on KWN states;

There are (over) one quadrillion dollars of derivatives and most of them are related to interest rates. The spiking of interest rates in the United States may set that off. What is going to happen in the world is eventually we are going to come to a moment where there is going to be massive bankruptcies around the globe.

What is going to be left after the dust settles is gold, and some people are going to have it and some people are not. Then the problem is going to be to hold on to what you’ve got because it’s not going to be a very pleasant world.”

A bank run has started in Portugal…Banco Espirito Santo down 19% before shares suspended . Missed payments on some bonds

Lehman on an order of magnitude that is much greater. “Magic 7” occurrence???
      Greg

      • Galaxy 500

I think it is more to do with a default on bonds by the holding company than a magic seven. The real magic is that these big banks, whether European or US are all bankrupt. The phoney mark to fantasy accounting is where the equity is…
        We’ll see what happens.
I spent a half hour on the.phone yesterday being interviewed for someone’s security clearance. They questions haven’t changed in thirty years . What struck me as odd is the way the “subversive” question was reworded.

I really hope that people are paying attention to the most recent IS (ISIS/ISIL) headlines:

ISIS Has Seized 88 Pounds Of Uranium In Northern Iraq
    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-07-09/isis-has-seized-88-pounds-uranium-northern-iraq

ISIS Seizes 2,500 Chemical Rockets Filled With Sarin
    http://beforeitsnews.com/alternative/2014/07/isis-seizes-2500-chemical-rockets-filled-with-sarin-2989512.html

First of all, the UN was in Iraq for two years and thoroughly removed/destroyed large quantities of weapons, which is why the US never found WMDs in Iraq. So, how did these chemical weapons make their way into Iraq?? Also, getting back to the bizarre numerology message from Lagarde, 88 is 8 + 8 = 16, 1 + 6 = 7!

Another thing, isn’t it strange that the President doesn’t see a need to secure the US/Mexican borders when the so-called terror threat is off the charts these days with ISIS threatening to conquer the world?? There have been reports that in addition to Latin Americans crossing the border, other nationalities have (Chinese, Arabs, etc) have been crossing the border also!

You CAN’T tell me that these events have not been planned! I feel it’s really time to keep your Eyes Wide Open!

      And don’t forget….

September 11, 2001 was considered 911 (help call)

      And,

  44. Ron

    Hi Greg;

Great interview, I can really relate to Mr. Kunstler’s comment: “Anything goes and nothing matters.” I’m afraid that comment defines us these days much to our dismay.
Looks like we are sitting on a tender box while playing with matches.

Also, really enjoyed the interview with “V” & “W”. Wow! Something finally got you pulled into the conspiracy mess. I’ve been waiting for that. I can see why you are reluctant to go there since the facts are so nebulous and hard to nail down though.

    Ron

    • EyesWideShut

      Greg,

Did you have an interview with V & W? When was that? I know you are attempting to get V on. Can you provide the link?

  45. HTC

Just wanted to add that I listened to another interview with a “W” and “V” on silverdoctors.com, interesting they both are pegging July 15th as a turning point date. Couple that with LeGarde’s numerology video and add in EVERYTHING else that seems to be snowballing right now and July is shaping up to be a very exciting month. I am curious as to how our government will react to contain the inevitable chaos on the home front when store shelves are empty and families become panicked. I wouldn’t mind hearing some thoughts as to how they will accomplish this. I can’t believe our US military will step in and use martial law as they will be corralling their own family and friends when they themselves will be receiving pay in the form of FRN’s. I am in the National Guard and I won’t be one the guys in uniform policing the masses. Very, very unsure how this will work.

    • Jerry

      HTC
They won’t be there to stop it. Just clean up after it.

  46. dchayden

Oh how I would love to see you have Victor Sperandeo on your show !!!!

  47. Jerry

Greg for those of you audience who missed Christine Lagardes first coded message, here she is again. Only this time she’s talking about a reset.

Galaxy 500 feel free to critique the interview for interpretation. 🙂

    • Galaxy 500

Haha…I think every one was able to discern my beliefs with regards to this subject. I think I’ll just point to my previous comments and save the zeros and ones thru cyberspace. I wouldnt want Al to have a knipsion.
As far as 7/15, its still not to late to up the bet to a hundred rubles.

  48. Steve

    Greg,

Why do we accept the premise that ISIS came from nowhere and is a black swan? They come from Langley, along with Al Qaeda. It can’t be more obvious, we partnered with them in Libya, we partnered with them in Syria, and now we are partnering with them in Iraq. How could they come from nowhere? Perhaps they came from well funded training camps in Jordan. Clearly they are well trained, organized, and equipped with US hardware. This all cost big money and requires government support. This is the policy of the US, to create chaos and destroy. Sad state of affairs and I am disappointed to hear naive views that this is out of control when in fact it is completely planned out, perhaps poorly planned and destined for disaster, but planned none the less. What happens when the CIA-backed ISIS start fighting with the US military? We are going to fight ourselves, astonishing. Orwellian world we live in.

  49. GeezLouise

    Geez,
Have you all forgotten the Bush Family and the Neo-Cons responsibility for most of what is happening?
They fricking attacked their own nation with the aid of some “foreign” help! Where is the outrage and the calls for these people to be locked up for good? Think about those 3000 Americans (if you don’t want to worry about the tens of thousands of dead Iraqis and Afghans) who died that day. WE OWE IT TO THEM to make the perpetrators of this TREASONOUS crime pay with prison time (in orange suits) for their crimes….that are continuing today.
