We Rescued The Top And Told The Bottom To Kiss Off!

The following video was on the Friday MSNBC “Morning Joe” program. It features the Chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel, Elizabeth Warren. This group is supposed to monitor the bank bailout. Warren is a Harvard Law professor that specializes in bankruptcy and contract law. Something that came out in the interview: U.S. taxpayers are on the hook for more than 4 trillion in guarantees for financial assets! This little fact is just glossed over in the interview!! I cannot believe how candid and critical Warren was on the bailout of the big banks. The country should have never been put in this “give us money or we will have systemic failure” situation in the first place. The heads of the big banks made stupid greedy decisions that would have caused them all to go bankrupt if it were not for the government bailouts! Keep in mind, not a one of these banking chiefs got fired. Watch the video below for a very good and candid discussion.

Wow, a clear explanation of what I have been gradually sensing over the last months – a jobless recovery – a dichotomy where the the banks control and pilfer the economy, have no accountability and can hold the country to ransom whilst the taxpayers have to fend for themselves and scramble for token scraps.
Claire,
I don’t know why more people are not mad as hell! Thank you for your comment!
Greg
Claire, I could not agree with you more.
This could be an episode of the Twilight Zone. Our politicians and the “mainstream” news media are pushing an agenda that has our country, not edging toward insolvency, but rushing headlong at break neck speed into a national bankruptcy.
I do not understand why the mall in DC is not covered with a million citizens protesting US Government sanctioned accounting fraud [changes to Mark to Market accounting Rules], massive unrestrained deficit spending destroying the future of our children and grandchildren, and a push for another TRILLION or so of spending on MORE SOCIAL programs [Health Care].
Our Congress refuses to address the most pressing issues, the economy and deficit spending OR even READ the bills they are passing.
