Consequence of Rigged Markets is Currency Crisis – James Howard Kunstler

By Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com

Author/journalist James Howard Kunstler has been in the writing business for decades and has never seen the geopolitical and economic landscape in America look like it does today. Kunstler explains, “I have never lived through a time, and it’s obvious I have lived a long time . . .  in American history that is as crazy as this one.  The part that is the most disturbing is the people who used to be sane have now completely gone off the rails.  I am speaking of the Democratic Party.  The nonsense that is coming out of that wing of our politics has really become a reality optional political party.”

On the so-called Russia collusion story and the 2016 election, Kunstler says, “What is the strangest part of the whole story is that we have heard nothing but the phrase ‘collusion, Russian collusion, Russian interference’ in the election for the last 12 months. I have yet to hear anybody say what it actually was that they colluded with, or what they actually did other than getting the emails of the DNC and John Podesta and making them public.  That doesn’t seem to be what they are talking about.  We have to find out what they mean by collusion and interference because nobody wants to say.”

On the state of journalism, Kunstler, who is a prolific writer and has authored 20 books, contends, “It’s amazingly disappointing. What else can you say?  It makes you wonder if the people at the New York Times, CNN and the Washington Post are just underpaid and dumb or whether they are just so dogmatic and ideologically agenda driven that they have become reality optional.  They are not interested in what’s really going on in the world, but only in the ‘narrative’ they are trying to push.  It’s hard to understand how a culture can decay to this degree, but that’s what we are seeing.  We are seeing the culture of journalism just rot away. . . . What we are seeing is extremely politically driven media.”

Kunstler points out that all markets are rigged and is “worried” about the true state of the economy. Kunstler says, “Many have accepted the fact that the authorities can keep on producing these perversions and distortions of finance forever with no consequences.  That’s the part that is really missing.  That’s the part of that story that is missing is the idea that there are any consequences for intervening, perverting and distorting the price discovery mechanism of markets.  That is the fundamental purpose of a market. . . . The idea that that can go on indefinitely without producing consequences is absurd.”

So, how does Kunstler think this will play out? Kunstler says, “There is an appearance that they can carry on these shenanigans forever, but sooner, rather than later, we are going to see consequences.  My guess is it will appear in the form of people losing their confidence in the value and the meaning of the money they are using.  That would be a currency crisis.  Right now, they have no reason to believe in the value of the things in the markets because the markets have been so distorted.  Eventually, I think it will be a matter of them losing confidence in the currencies themselves.  I think that’s where it’s going to start to accelerate into a major crisis of culture and economy.”

No resident will say: “I am sick.”—Isa. 33:24.
There is no doubt that God has the power to affect someone’s health. The Bible confirms that. At times, he punished individuals with sickness, such as the Pharaoh in Abraham’s day and later Moses’ sister, Miriam. (Gen. 12:17; Num. 12:9, 10; 2 Sam. 24:15) God warned that if the Israelites proved unfaithful, he would afflict them with “every sickness or plague.” (Deut. 28:58-61) On the other hand, Jehovah could remove diseases or prevent sickness. (Ex. 23:25; Deut. 7:15) Also, he could heal people. After Job had been so sick that he longed to die, God healed him! (Job 2:7; 3:11-13; 42:10, 16) Yes, God definitely has the power to intervene and heal a sick person. It is similar with his Son. We read that Jesus miraculously cured lepers, epileptics, and blind or paralyzed ones. (Matt. 4:23, 24; John 9:1-7) How strengthening it is to think that the healings Jesus performed are a foregleam of what he will do on a grand scale in the new world soon to come. Then “no resident will say: ‘I am sick.’”—Isa. 33:24.

    • Paul ...

Liz … in the new world soon to come “no resident will say: ‘I am sick.’”—Isa. 33:24: but we are currently “sick with unending war” … however because we were made in “the image of God” we can be cured … our body’s are exactly “like God’s body” and should automatically “stay healthy” by keeping bad things out of it (like red meat for instance according to the World Health Organization) … this does not mean “just pork” … if we are unfaithful to God’s word that “thou shall not kill” … not only will our bodies become diseased … but “the disease of war” (the killing of animals) will never be cured … if we don’t stop killing and eating at the tree of the animal kingdom … God said “we could eat of all the other trees” (like fruit, nuts, seeds) and vegetables (essentially eating from the branches of the plant kingdom then at his mercy following a vegetarian like diet) most every sickness and plague that affects man will be cured … we were made in God’s image and he knew and warned us away from this particular branch of the tree of life in order to keep us healthy in both mind and body (wars and killing of animals must stop to cure and purify our souls)!!

More Jehovah Witness “new world soon to come”. Go away.

      • Greg Hunter

Thank you Eddie MD I missed that one. Please, Jehovah Witness people DO NOT post your material on USAW.
        Greg

      • Liz Cravan

        Dear Edward,
You give way to much credit to Jehovah witnesses. Personally, I included scripture to back up a new world. I try to stick to indisputable scripture not doctrine. J.W’s come through here along with other folks of a few religions and all agree there is a new world promised in the Bible! Some say this old one will be destroyed and a new one will be created and some say theirs nothing wrong with this one that a little house cleaning is in order. Either way is fine for me, as long as I get to be reupholstered! lol! Hey, I’m not going anywhere, at least in this old wicked world.
Some of us Eddie cant do much to prepare physically but just about only spiritualy. Usawatchdog Is such an encouragement! I like to add some courage here and try to stick to just the facts of the Bible.

Don’t worry if your out of a job when that day comes Eddie. The great physician Jehovah through his son promises to do away with sin and death, you cant beat that! we aren’t getting any younger! L.C

        • eddiemd

You are a JW cultist. Putting your faith into such a cult will lead to your destruction in the end.

I don’t give any credit to the JW cult. They and you are deceived. They have twisted the Scriptures and therefore they are cursed.

Come out from them while you can. The truth will set you free.

          • Liz

Wow!, come out while I can? Cant you explain why you feel this way instead of all these accusations. If Jehovah wittneses are dommed tell us why? You make people want to know what makes them tick! It sure does me! I cant wait till they come back!

Truth is truth, lets hear it eddie, preferably with scripture, ok? L.C.
The mind is like a parachute. If it wont open up, it wont work. I’m open to whatever you say and you got some good comments. I’m just an old fuddy duddy stuck in a home. I thought it was wonderful you got to spend five months in central Europe. Were you near Milania Trumps home country Slovenia part of former country Yugoslavia?Sounds like you have an exciting life eddie. Mine’s over. My hope is in gods kingdome, by.

Hi Greg, Love your ‘shows’ but disappointed with the James Kunstler interview. Not convinced we (the audience) learned anything – more like a MSM daytime TV show with a guest on to promote their latest book, play, film, music release, etc. What did I miss?

Free markets are the economic embodiment of equilibrium. The pendulum can only swing so far away from the point of equilibrium.

  5. dachsielady

I tried to pick up something substantive from this interview but there was no there there.
Mr. Kuntsler probably is a successful writer and that is nice.
My beloved United States of America is in the greatest peril of its existence and we need to discuss that reality in depth.
This man stated two or three times in the interview that he does not believe in conspiracy theories.
I do and the way about half the population becomes angry and aggressive and in denial when the facts of these conspiracies are broached is probably the main reason we are where we are as a nation today.
We have been living in the la-la land, pretend world, of total denial of reality.
Sorry you had this guest on your show this week.

    • diane

I thought he was an honest guy.
He was accurate in his take on things.

It’s not just economic factors making us crazy, cultural Marxist indoctrination at schools and universities across the West is having a profound and terrible effect, creating a kind of mass insanity. This mental illness then ends up in the media as freshly brainwashed ‘journalists’ leaving the ‘education’ system are hired by the MSM.

    • Charles H

Bingo! Follow the dots back … no moral basis; no recognition for rules or Law; then no authority but what they decide. I’d say that is a form of mass insanity. Their educators taught them the LIES they, themselves believed – and charged them to do it! No culture can withstand such torpidity.
“It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled.” Mark Twain

    • Paul ...

Schools indoctrinate in the minds of our children … that to be acceptable … one “must follow orders” … a few of the smart kids break out of the mold … before they become PhD’s … who just “tout the shit” the Deep State gives them to promote … and they are granted an official diploma to prove they can pile(P) it high(h) and deep(D)!!

    • Xeno

      Completely agree with these points.

  8. (Rev) Andrew de Berry

Thank you Greg – another truly excellent interview. James Kunstler’s wisdom shines through. Euripides’ quote of ‘those whom the gods would destroy they first send mad’ is of course echoed by Jesus in Matthew 22, 37 about ‘loving God with all our heart, soul and mind’ telling us two things: (1) that madness is the inevitable result of succumbing to demonic forces, while (2) staying in our right mind is absolutely crucial in these perilous times. For I too share your guest’s aversion to conspiracies, in which sadly not a few Christians too readily partake. Mindless Christianity (and I know many Christians who seem to hold either wacky views or no views about anything) is little better than the insane delusions nurtured by our leaders.
Kunstler’s new book also looks like good value on Amazon

    Greg,
Crypto-currencies are the equivalence of QE to infinity. An unlimited supply created out of nothing. This is nothing more than our current potential hyper-inflation.

  14. Rock

Thanks Greg. Another interesting interview. He confuses me though when he says he is “allergic to conspiracy theories”, then turns around and states that the cabal is doing things out in the open. The same things the conspiracists claim are happening.

  15. Randy Rhce

The question: “how long can this go on?” The answer is simple; when your friends and family finally discover something is wrong. If you follow USA Watchdog, you are informed and understand economics, history, and “Puto enim me”, or I think for myself. You probably struggle to find a friend or a family member who even has the most basic understanding of economics. Try opening up a conversation about how a debt-based currency works, mark-to-market accounting, or the price discovery mechanism. Their eyes glaze over almost immediately. If you hold their attention long enough and explain how money is created, they find it so preposterous; they dismiss it as a conspiracy theory. This is not by accident that the below thirty years of age has no basic understanding of history or economics. I was a college professor for 20 odd years, and I was amazed that students lacked any semblance of critical thinking skills. It wasn’t until later years did I start examining public education curriculum… which in my opinion was meaningless. My area was occupational education, and the academic side was no different than their students. Sadly, this phenomenon is not limited to the under thirty; it is just more obvious with their generation. My generation is apathetic and many have stated to me, “well, I hope it lasts until after I am dead and gone”. You like me, don’t even listen or watch mainstream media, you see what it is. So why are they still in business? Their viewership is not you, it is the other 95% that have not a clue about what is going on. So, how long can this gone on? Again, until that friend or family member wakes up and realizes that something is inherently wrong. If history is correct, we have all seen this movie before, we know how it ends. Complete social economic collapse. There are three asset classes; primary, secondary, and tertiary assets. A tertiary asset is nothing more than a paper claim on the first two. My advice is to listen to Greg and his guests. Invest your time in your self-education, invest your money only in primary assets. The 95% will wake up, but that is when it is too late. Godspeed

    • Greg Hunter

      Randy,
My family will not mention USAW or ask what is going on. They will know what we know at some point.
      Greg

      • Linda L.

        Greg
I remember this biblical verse from Luke 4:24 that Jesus shared: “and he said, verily I say unto you, no prophet is accepted in his own country (hometown/family). I experience similar issues with my family when attempting to share off mainstream info. and have stopped doing so, not caring for the mocking responses (in their world the status quo is just fine). There’s nothing I can do but pray for their protection now and hope that they’re near/or protected when it all blows.

      • Alannon

I am sorry to hear that Greg, I think most of us are in the same boat. I try not to even bring up my believes in conversations, unless I slip :), as most people think our views are nuts.

    • Ross Herman

Randy, if the system will continue asis until the masses wake up, it will continue like this forever. There is zero chance that most will ever wake! You had best invest in the stock market as it will continue to rise forever and gold and silver will never have enough value to dig it out of the ground.

  16. Russ

Thanks Greg, I really liked this interview/discussion. It’s good to hear that there are in fact Democrats who are intellectually honest and not just marching in step with the party line. Eventually, I hope that Democrats like James Howard Kunstler are able to put their party back “on the rails”. A reasonable difference of opinion is healthy in politics, but totally divergent and extreme views which have no common ground for compromise has proven to be unworkable and that’s where we are now.

Kunstler’s opinion on the Crimea BS is very similar to mine from back in March 2014 when Russian forces retook Crimea following the Ukranian revolution. (While not an academic source for information, wiki’s pages on Crimea and the Treaty of Paris at: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimea & https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimean_War offer a good background on the subject of Crimea’s Russian history.) If there had been an issue with Russia’s claims on Crimea it would have been resolved in the Treaty of Paris ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Paris_(1856) ), but imo that treaty pretty much locks down Russia’s historic claim on Crimea.

My personal thoughts back in 2014 were that if Obama wanted to have a nuclear war with Russia, taking the Russian Naval base at Sevastopol would have been a good start. Thankfully that was a red line that Obama recognized and wisely avoided.

  17. amyandjim

I love the GOP talking point, echoed by a few on the far left like Kunstler, that there is no evidence. There’s enough circumstantial evidence to justify the investigation. Examples? Sessions committing perjury about meetings with Kislyak, people “forgetting” to register as foreign agents, people “forgetting” to list conversations/meetings/loans on their security clearance forms, someone firing the FBI director, telling the truth about it on TV and then lying about it. Prosecutors are selective about the information they leak and the information they don’t leak.

Follow the dead Russians. Follow the money. Follow the lies.

    • Flattop

amyandjim: My question to you, how many Democratic Senators met with Russian officials and now accusing AG Sessions of meetings.

    • Ross Herman

You love your tv don’t you?

    • Freebreezer

Amyandjim – if I follow the money, it leads right back to Hillary and her foundation … How much $$$ did the Russians give the Clinton foundation for her OKing the sell off of a huge percent of the American Uranium mines to the Russians …. ….Hmmm ? If I follow the lies – again it leads right back to Hillary who lies, lies lies… And if I follow the dead, I think of the young Democratic intern shot in the back …. Thanks for showing me the path!

  18. Gary Pennington

Thank you, Greg, for a great interview. Mr. Kunstler put into words much of my own thoughts concerning the DNC, our obsession with Russia, and the state of what used to be ‘journalism’.

  19. WD

    Greg,

    1) Kunstler tells it like it is…last year he made some spot on predictions as well. What I like about him is that he does not buy into conspiracy theories. That being said, he backs up everything with hard evidence. ( yes I know conspiracies theories exist).

    2) CNN ISSUE- HOW WILL CNN EVER GET SPONSORS AFTER WHAT WAS REVEALED?

    Thanks

    • Flattop

WD: Never mind the cnn sponser, what about all those people who watch cnn and accept their news as Truth

      • WD

Flattop I thought about that. But there comes a point when some things can’t be ignored. BTW ratings are really crumbling.

Buy sponsors still pay the bills

  20. Jerry

    Greg,
The dollar is on life support right now. If it weren’t so, then why would the IMF encourage banks to embrace crypto currencies?
    http://www.investopedia.com/news/imf-blockchain-banks-invest-cryptocurrency-blockchain/

Everyday I watch the currency wars ragging on the private exchanges. The central banks and their godfather “The Exchange Stabilization Fund” are doing everything they can to preserve the petrodollar buying by up treasuries and smashing gold prices.
They even use cyber attacks via the NSA to attack crypto currency trading platforms. But guess what? The cat is out of the bag. The rest of the world knows the petrodollar system is rigged because it is overloaded with reserve currency debt.

I don’t know exactly when AIIB will launch an all out attack on the petrodollar, but judging by the probing they’ve doing in the private exchanges with their proxy banks, it won’t be long. Like any good strategist you’d want to know what you’re adversaries weaknesses are how they will respond before you attack. Unless I’ve missed my guess, when the time comes to go live they will pull the trigger quickly and decisively, so you’d better be prepared. Its like playing financial musical chairs. You’d better have a financial chair to sit in when the music stops or you’re going to be left out of the game entirely.

  21. John M.

There will surely be grave consequences for all the dumb-ass choices our nation has made, such as currency collapse, economic dysfunction, war, and chaos, to name a just a few.
You cannot disembowel our free-market system and Christian culture without huge consequences. We reap what we sow.

  22. Walter Baumgarten

Thank you for having JHK on your show Greg, I have been a fan of his writing and his blog for over a decade now. His book the Long Emergency was not only prophetic but is still current in what is unfolding that he saw so long ago. Too Much Magic is another great and insightful work of his that is well worth reading and rereading. I think that the most important thing that came out of this interview today, for those that may not follow JHK, is that he has come to the point in his politics as so many of us have where it has been proven to us all that the is no red or blue, but only purple. The Dumbo’s and the Jackasses are actually only Dumbassses all. People seem to forget that President Trump is neither, he is an independent and the hatred that is shoveled at him from both sides of the circus tent is evidence that all the others are in bed with one another simply for their own profit. The president continues to play the war card however, because just as every other president since JFK is aware of, if you do not comply with the MIC you wind up on the wrong end of a “lone gunman”. Again thank you for all you do for us. There is no other media, only BS.

  23. Mike R

Bitcoin and hundreds of new crypto-currencies exploding into existence at this time, are a blatant sign of a world-wide currency crisis. Of course they are in a bubble, and of course they are a ponzi.
Great short article here on it… http://jessefelder.tumblr.com/post/162204206555/yes-bitcoin-is-a-bubble-and-its-about-to-burst
“But to really understand the mania you need to look no further than the primary argument in buying crypto in the first place. Investors here claim the value comes from the limited supply. The trouble is there is an unlimited number of types of coins that can be created! ” What makes the “initial coin offering” craze that much crazier than the day-trading mania is that these are essentially nothing more than very thinly-veiled ponzi schemes. In fact, someone saw fit to to actually create a PonziCoin (at least they’re being up front about it).

Ponzi’s are amazing. Here we have a blatant Ponzi, and yet so many people pile in, thinking they too, can ‘get in’, and ‘get out’ before it all implodes.

  24. Lissa

    Greg,
Here is a frightening article that was posted on Wall Street on Parade yesterday.
    http://wallstreetonparade.com/2017/06/media-focus-on-trump-blindsides-the-public-from-rising-wall-street-risks/
The Russian collusion stories in the MSM and the Trump bashing everyday on TV shows like “The View” just shows how the 95% are in the dark. God help us all!

  25. andyb

Greg: IMO, JHK’s key point in your discussion with him was the US/Russian situation. The disinformation about, the demonizing of, and the propaganda directed against Putin and Russia are extremely worrisome. Yes, even though I know that the psychotic neocon warmongers need an enemy to feed the cash flows going to and from the Military Industrial Complex and the corrupt politicians, I am starting to get nervous about the possibility of a major war, especially since it would also serve as a “rally-round-the-flag” means to distract from the coming economic implosion. It is my feeling that the unbelievable phoniness of the whole ISIS/Syria situation will be coming home to roost shortly, even if the CIA/Israeli/Saudi Arabia backed terrorists manage to overthrow Assad and turn Syria into just another failed state.

Putin is a nationalist; he bleeds for Russia. He has shown no signs of trying to resurrect the USSR (and thus invade the Balkans or other countries) despite incessant propaganda that claims otherwise. In recent talks, he wonders why the US is so crazy to try to start WWIII. But he is ready nonetheless. There are many indications that Russia has some superior weaponry, certainly in the missile and anti-missile categories. And what happened to the USS Donald Cook in the Black Sea should be a wake up call to the neocons. We could easily lose in a face-to-face with the Russians, Why take the chance? Insanity.

  26. Ross Herman

Sorry, Greg this guy just doesn’t get how deep it goes or how long it has been going on. Unwilling to evaluate anything that might be considered conspiracy, clearly still under mind control to a significant degree. He is “not quite ready to move over to the Republican Party”. I’m sure his party will see the error of their ways and maybe even slow down on some of their genocide programs, not!

On another topic, the fact that no criminals are never punished is really working to oppress my spirit and show clearly that Satan rules this world. So after a life under Satanic domination I can look forward to a miserable death and an eternity burning in hell. Well according to the bible anyway (which I an not well versed). Unless I am one of the extremely few who are chosen to join with Jesus and enjoy glorious battle against who or whatever is left.

    • Tracy Welborn

Ross, I think I can help. Jesus already won the battle between good and evil on the cross. He himself said it was finished at that point. What’s happening now is ONLY by God’s permission. Just put faith in Jesus, abide in Him and relax. Everything’s gonna be okay.

      • Ross Herman

Thank you I will take your advice.

  27. gregd

    Greg,
I’m really not interested anymore in what a Dem has to say. Citing Kennedy and Rosevelt isn’t fair. At least Kennedy. You didn’t ask him about Hillary Clinton and the lying or the Clinton Foundation. Or about the Obama multiple lies and the 10 trillion added to the debt. How about the the bailouts of the banks. I thought the GOP was in the pockets of the fat cats? Obama bailed them out. And bond holders of GM were given 10% of their money back even though they were first in line to be paid. That was their contract. Obama just overruled it like a king. And he want to stay a DEM just for the primaries? He has no principles in my opinion.

    • diane

I used to be a Democrat GregD.
I became a born again Conservative…but live in California, a state controlled by some very bad Democrats. I stayed a registered Democrat for years just so I could make my protest vote against the worst of a bad slate of candidates.
I then re-registeted as a Republican , until they became controlled by Rinos.
I am now a DS….decline to state independent.
      I’m a Trump supporter.
      MAGA!

    Hi Greg,
OK interview. I don’t think I would take the time to listen to him again. He, as a Democrat, did acknowledge the obvious that today’s Democratic Party has gone “off the rails.”

To some people, the alternative news sights and what they report are basically Conspiracy Theory.

I have come to believe that one needs to go down ” the rabbit hole” to find the Truth- how far down I do not know.

Greg, one of the most important questions that you ask a lot is what will it be like after the Collapse, especially for the “average person.”
Will it be a “Mad Max” scenario? Like present day Venezuela ? Or a dystopian 1984 post-collapse society? Or, God forbid, The Road?

    • diane

      If it’s The Road?
I will be leaving the planet

Great interview. Thanks for posting. I agree with Mr. Kunstler that a currency crisis is coming. Mike Maloney has an excellent video series on fiat currencies and how they are not real money.
Clif High has said recently that a currency crisis scares the hell out of the elites because with a worthless currency they will no longer be able to bribe the politicians and bureaucrats necessary to keep this farce going and to keep the elites out of jail.

    Hello Greg!
A thoughtful interview with mr JHK ….his simple language about the issues surrounding us rang true and to the point. My first time listening to him….reminded me of a modern
SAMUEL CLEMENTS . His thoughts on how the system failed …slowly , allowing the weak and crass to take the country in a direction of moral decay…..most interesting. My own thoughts were that the US was always operating just shy of crossing the moral line …and it really didn’t take that much to finally step on the slippery slope of what we have today….permanent war, and the rise of the rentier class. The US shooting down a Syrian plane in their own airspace is just another canapé for the war mongers feast.
Cheers! ….store food, leave the cities and prepare for the bonfire of the vanities.

The state of journalism was defined when Gary Webb was punished for telling the truth about one Dark Alliance. (cocaine and the government.)
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Webb
Since 2004, there have been a lot of Dark Alliances (gold and central banks, etc.) and woe to any investigative journalist who tries to write honestly about them. The Deep State (aka Great Red Dragon) has demonstrated the actions it will take, and this is the sword that hangs above all investigating journalists.

Whatever one has to say about Mr. Kunstler…….He is among the very few writers who can make a statement that is both ” Funny…Sad..and True “all at the same time. He is a master wordsmith…and well worth reading just for the enjoyment of his accurate as well as amusing and at the same time ; bitter, word pictures. What a talent.

I like to read JHK’s books, like to listen to him on various panel discussions. He is a puzzlement to me though as are many renegade Dems. I grew up in the same period that he did and I do not have any misty-eyed nostalgia, especially in regard to libs of that period. They were brats then, bullies now.

We remember Bush derangement. Now it’s Trump derangement. It is the left who tolerates no dissent, will pummel you into the pavement for being a MAGA supporter, being white, or just for the hell of it.

I swerved into a post collapse discussion with a neighbor who voted for Obama twice. I went into vapor lock as he started sounding like Matt Bracken. He gets it now. He mentioned listening to Dave Hodges. We started discussing the realities of life post collapse in this neighborhood. He is the only come-to-Jesus exception on this street, however.

I keep my mouth shut here in this hood as most all of my neighbors are East Coast lib zealots. They packed all their hates in their suitcases and brought it all to AZ with them. I feel like I never left PA what with neighbors from PA, Jersey, NY, Chicago and similar hellholes. AZ is a favored dumping ground for refugees from Chicago. I think if there were to be a collapse we’d kill each other before the roving hordes got to our street. We are surface polite, little more.

Going “back home” is no answer. My hometown is a socially engineered flophouse for Philly parolees, rehabbers, the sainted invaders and axe-grinding libs.

You heard JHK’s remarks about the Dem party. A good chunk of my family are like him in attitude. They are disappointed over what is currently the Dem party, but will forever bark at the moon over anyone in power who is not one of them. They would sit contentedly in their own puke before they would ever venture a different way of thinking. And, this is where we are as a country, 2 camps waiting to reenact Gettysburg.

Did everyone see the article on zerohedge.com by Tyler Durden? It has been reported that Congress will be session in 2017 for only 147 days with 218 days OFF! Why, when our Administration needs support and things need to get done ASAP are we paying the Congress their big wages and benefits to do so very little but vacation for most of the year, with the US in such turmoil? As the POTUS said ” I inherited a mess”and so I ask why these lazy, no good, career, do nothing politicians are allowed this mockery of a schedule? The time we survive in now mirrors the internal fall of the Roman Empire. The ruling class sat around and ate grapes, participated in sexual perversions, debating whether or not angels had wings, as their country crumbled around them. Thus one of the greatest empires on earth was no more and it’s quite obvious that America (distracted with electronics/video games) is headed in the same direction at break neck speed.

I usually enjoy reading Mr Kunstler’s articles. He does grumpy old man complaining about everything rather well. Another is Fred Reed.

    http://kunstler.com/clusterfuck-nation/the-technicolor-swan/

In there he mentions the John Birch Society “and all it’s poisonous nonsense”. One of the founding members of that society was a Mr Revilo Oliver, who quit about a year later because he said the society “had already been taken over by communist jews”.

Is that the source of the “poisonous nonsense” James, or do you really dislike the JBS because it pretends to stand for white America and you actually believe then when they say it?

  46. Jason Hall

“Allergic to conspiracy theories”??? So then he doesn’t openly & honestly consider ALL possibilities of the situation. That really doesn’t fit with someone who can see through the fog. Even the use of the term “conspiracy theory” is so Looney-Left/Democrates, & is usually only ever used when the establishment are trying to scare & shut down a debate. Very interesting choice of expression.

  47. Larry Galearis

One almost gets the impression that some guests are understating a tawdry history of the United States, or is that simply glossing over/painting the pig in the effort to maintain support for patriotism of ones country. Mr. Kunstler is quite astute about a failing economy and monetary system but does not seem to grasp the bellicose nature of the United States – or should we say Washington itself? For example the US has been attempting to build an empire through a policy of Manifest Destiny since its early inception and losing many wars in the process, (Canada’s War of 1812 is a case in point) and then lying about the outcome – seemingly to replace mythology with reality. One book I always recommend about how little the United States culture has changed in its fundamental relationships with the world is Bernard Cornwell’s “The Fort”. Paul Revere (yes, that Paul Revere) played a huge role in the greatest naval defeat in US history in 1779. This is history left out of the American citizen’s psyche and a nation’s PUBLICLY acknowledged history. The wars of empire since 1945 see an ugly continuum with a list of miscreant militarism. Here is a list of countries bombed since 1945 (which is AFTER WW2): China 1945-46 Korea 1950-53 China 1950-53 Guatemala 1954 Indonesia 1958 Cuba 1959-60 Guatemala 1960 Belgian Congo 1964 Guatemala 1964 Dominican Republic 1965-66 Peru 1965 Laos 1964-73 Vietnam 1961-73 Cambodia 1969-70 Guatemala 1967-69 Lebanon 1982-84 Grenada 1983-84 Libya 1986 El Salvador 1981-92 Nicaragua 1981-90 Iran 1987-88 Libya 1989 Panama 1989-90 Iraq 1991 Kuwait 1991 Somalia 1992-94 Bosnia 1995 Iran 1998 Sudan 1998 Afghanistan 1998 Yugoslavia – Serbia 1999 Afghanistan 2001 Libya 2011. What most Americans do not understand is that most of these events were acts of aggression as war crimes under International Law, and also LOST wars. The very history behind these wars is based on lawlessness and incompetent leadership both at the military end and the Washington end.
When Mr. Kunstler is talking about cycles of what amounts as extreme stupidity in Washington – as we have now – we must therefore assume that the history of stupidity within the United States has been like a chronic disease from the very moment it wrote it Constitution and then gleefully ignored it. So one eventually has to ask when this unhealthy condition will lead to a gruesome end and how could such a wealthy country be so witless about its own nature?
This is how much of the rest of the world views the US and never more acutely since watching the present circus in Washington and its completely irresponsible actions to all other sovereign states in the globe. Quite frankly most of the world is quite terrified and both morally and intellectually repelled by these actions. Again I ask the question: how can one be a patriot of such a country?
    FWIW,
    G.
