Weekly News Wrap-Up 5.11.12

By Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com

If you think gay marriage or Mitt Romney’s alleged forced haircuts when in prep school are the big stories you need to worry about, then you are watching too much of the mainstream media!  There are much bigger stories folks should be paying attention to.  Let’s start with the Fukushima Diiachi nuclear power plant in Japan that is still not under control.  It is far from over, and at least one U.S. Senator from Oregon is sounding the alarm.  Ron Wyden is not only asking the Obama administration to get involved but the entire global community.  If this blows up again, there would be 85 times more radiation than Chernobyl.  This could cause extreme sickness and millions of deaths worldwide.  The USA is directly downwind from Japan.   Europe is the other big story you are not hearing much about.  Economist Nouriel Roubini says the EU and the euro is finished when the crisis hits Spain and Italy.  He is giving a 2 to 3 year time horizon.  If the Eurozone breaks up, as he predicts, there is no way the U.S. is not sucked under.  And let’s not forget the elections in France and Greece that are not favoring the austerity and the banker bailouts.  This is really a bank solvency problem, not just a sovereign debt crisis.  David Stockman, director of the Office Management and Budget under the Reagan Administration, says we are in “The last innings of a very bad ball game.”   That sounds like a lot less than 2 to 3 years before all heck breaks loose to me.  Nigel Farage, a Member of the European Parliament, predicts there will be an attempt to install a “dictator” in Europe.  Farage says just look how the elected Prime Ministers in Italy and Greece were replaced with bankers.  Farage says the EU is “headed for the rocks,” and the EU leaders are in denial.  Is there any wonder why China’s gold imports have surged 6 fold in the first quarter?  Not Treasuries, not euros, not dollars, but gold imports to China up 6 fold!  That should tell you something.  Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger and Bill Gates are all talking down gold recently, but gold has blown away Berkshire Hathaway and Microsoft in the last 10 years.  Greg Hunter delivers analysis of all these stories and more in the Weekly News Wrap-Up.

    Greg,
Nice weekly wrap-up, as always. I had to write and say that I could not agree with you more on the gay marriage issue. There are far more pressing issues to worry about. My prediction is that this to will fade away just like the working vs stay at home women issue or the contraceptive ballyhoo…etc. The White House, I’m sure will keep throwing things at the wall hoping something sticks.

Greg: Fukushima poses an end-of-the-world scenario, and this not an exaggeration. Nuclear experts Arne Gunderson and Helen Caldicott have been warning since the first meltdowns that there is no practical solution. Meanwhile, the Pacific is being “permanently” polluted, millions will die of cancer in the Northern Hemisphere (I would postulate that average life expectancy will drop at least 20 years—–crtainly would solve the unfunded SS and Medicare problem) and the whole sovereign nation of Japan is being sacrificed to political greed and corruption. And all because of the powerful nuclear lobby.

    • Greg

Thank you Andy B,Patty and Cossack55. Fukushima scars the heck out of me. Keep in mind the earthquake was in March of 20011 and this is not over? Wow!! This should be a worldwide full court press to find a solution.
      Greg

  4. Patty

Thank you Greg. I am so amazed at the absolute lack of coverage on Fukushima here in Portland. Way too many ostriches out here! Best, Patty

Spot on Greg – I saw a chart the other day on gold vs. Berkshire Hathaway. What a joke it was with MSM proping up these talking heads badmouthing precious metals. The chart looked like the gaping jaws of an alligator, gold gaping up over the last 10 years and BH gaping down….I have had my television service disconnected for over a year now and do not miss it one bit! Keep up the good work Greg…..

    • Greg

      Big Tom,
That chart tells the entire story man!!! Thank you for the colorful description.

Fuku Dai has not been getting much coverage because the MSM is scared to death. This can be verified by the fact that there are 5-star hotels nearby but no press to be seen. I imagine we will be receiving drone coverage once the Tokyo evacuations commence.

  7. MasterLuke

This is more evidence that the mainstream media does not want to sound the alarms. Instead they would rather quietly prep and pass the hot potato to the poor/working class.

    • Greg

Thank you Master Luke for the comment.
      Greg

  8. Kevin

That’s the way I see it too.

    Thanks for the wrap-up, Greg.

Greg, the folks should get on infowars.com for more info on the FEMA Camps, Japan Nuke stuff & the leak of the military docs that don’t supose to exist! I wish I had a one way ticket to Chile!

  10. Miro Markovic

Mr. Hunter, I give you A+ for your skilfully written weekly news summery report. While the MSM missed them all, you listed all relevant and major news perfectly with concise explanations. If I may, I would like to add one more, maybe politically the most sensitive one, i.e.,Putin diplomatically informed Obama that he will not show up at the Camp David and participate at meeting of the G8 heads of states. For Putin’s convenience, Obama moved that meeting place, originally planned to be held in Chicago, to Camp David, but it didn’t impress Putin too much. In the European press they are listing the reasons for that abstentions. The intensified purchase of gold by the Chinese government and the Putin non-participation in the G8 meeting are indirectly related. Beside that, I have a question for you. Can we ignore the two billion dollar loss of the JP Morgan’s bank this week?

    • Greg

      Miro,
I am writing about this now. JP Morgan $2 billion (or more) loss is big, very big.
      Greg

The media is just that a form of “information.” Its just worthless information…thats all. Wheres my usa watchdog bumper sticker Greg? Its time to spread the wealth…of powerful information!! Out.

    • Greg

      BLT,
I am going to start selling USAWatchdog.com T-shirts in the next month or so. (Really, no kidding.) That is a start. Who knows maybe I’ll give out bumper stickers someday too. Thank you for your support.

  12. Jan

Thanks for the great news wrap Greg. We can only shake our heads at the bullying reports and gay marriage. He support it, but doesn’t it is a state issue. So why is everyone so excited? He promised immigration reform and to close Gitmo but those thing have not and will not happen anymore than we will have a nationally recognized gay marriage platform..

Empty words to keep people divided and distracted.

    • Greg

      Jan,
I can say it no better than you did here, “Empty words to keep people divided and distracted.” Thank you!!
