Higher War Chances Mean Higher Interest Rates – Martin Armstrong

Legendary financial and geopolitical cycle analyst Martin Armstrong says rising war chances mean higher interest rates. You have seen the 10-year Treasury go from 4.5% to around 5.25% in a matter of weeks. This is a very big move in a very short amount of time. This headline from yesterday shows you how serious the war chances are with Europe and Russia. It reads: “Putin: Ready To Use ‘All Weapons’ Including Nuclear, If Kaliningrad Attacked.” President Putin calls this an “escalation,” and interest rates are escalating too. Is Europe out of their minds? What is going on? Armstrong says, “They want war. It is as simple as that. They are broke. . .. The economy is failing. Economic growth in Germany is 0.8%. Italy is 0.5%. You’ve got long term interest rates rising because you are beating the war drums. You don’t want to buy their debt because it’s going to default anyhow. This is all coming to a head. This is why you see them bashing Putin. Oh, he wants to invade Europe, and for what? They have nothing of value. They buy their energy from Russia. This is why you had Napolean and Hitler try to conquer Russia because it is the richest country in the world from a natural resource perspective.”
Armstrong reveals that Trump Administration contacts have been consulting with him, and he told them, “Europe is going to lose. What I have warned Washington is China and North Korea are coming in. Why? Because they know if Russia fails, they are next.”
Armstrong said the recent meeting between President Trump and China’s Xi Jinping involved a discussion of war between Russia, Europe and what China might do to help Russia. Armstrong says, “I want to keep America the hell out of this. Fine, let them go. There is no way China is going to allow Russia to collapse.”
Armstrong says he knows President Trump has told President Xi that America will not get involved with war between Russia and Europe over Ukraine. Armstrong says, “I got another briefing, and I was told they understood the problem was with Zelensky (Ukraine) and not with Putin.”
Armstrong says assets are coming to America, and this trend is not going to stop anytime soon. So, can we forget all the crazy talk of a huge crash coming to American markets? Armstrong says, “Yes. . .. Do you want to sell all your private assets and buy government debt now? Some people are calling this the ‘everything bubble.’ Stocks are up. Real estate is up. Coins, stamps, antique cars, art and this is the ‘everything bubble.’ This is cash fleeing the public sector and going to the private sector. The London Times just did a big story on this, and it said, yes, money is going to America, but it’s going to the private sector. When they beat these war drums over there with nuclear war, are you going to leave your money there? You get the hell out of town.”
On gold, Armstrong is still very bullish and says, “Gold will go up because you are looking at war on so many fronts at this stage.”
Armstrong has a warning for Trump about the midterm elections. In August, the midterms were 50/50, but now it looks like the Democrats have the edge. Armstrong says, “We may see a Democrat victory here. . .. Bush 43 lost the midterms because of the Iraq war. His approval was 38% and Trump’s is at 34%. Americans do not like endless wars — period. That is the risk here.”

Mr. Armstrong is always an interesting guest- lots to think about. I have wondered about the real reason for our war with Iran. I don’t buy the story of some how we bungled our way into it. There are a number of things that don’t make good sense, but one thing that seems obvious is that Europe is certainly on the losing end of it. Refined oil products are in short supply over there and now Trump is forcing them to release some of their diesel. If Trump’s ultimate goal is to force Europe to stand down, he may be the greatest president we’ve ever had. And then again, if a global famine is the trade off, history won’t be kind about it all. Dirt Rider, thank you for all your hard work and expense to research the air we breathe. I hope you are wrong about your prediction that America is collapsing. However, with the Muslim invasion, the Chinese spies, Mexican illegals costing billions, the crazy “Haters,” Universities indoctrinating students to hate America, and elementary schools with pink haired teachers wearing nose rings, things do not look hopeful. The Catholic Schools are excellent. However, they are very expensive. Homeschooling is getting popular. We have too many people who want to destroy America. Dirt – Look up Stephan Dubeau’s Triangle Magnets and Nonagon. I prefer the analog triangle prototype. President Trump is risking a great deal by continuing the Iran war. People are really ticked. The Republicans may lose both the House and Senate. I shudder to think what the Communists/Muslims will do after they get control. No doubt we will have open borders again, and California will be invaded by millions more illegal aliens. The caravans are already lining up in anticipation of the Democrats getting back in power. They are a huge burden, because they will be coming in looking for free stuff. Many have health problems and American citizens pay their health care.

Problem is the stock market liquidity is fraudulent. There are far more shares floating around then have actually been released by DDTC. With the current goal of tokenization of shares (which DDTC is doing), it’s going to expose brokerages selling what they don’t have. Example is Next Bridge Hydrocarbons, their CEO Greg McCabe says they only issued 165 million authorized shares. According to McCabe, there is about 1 billion floating around. You really think your brokerage is going to eat the loss and survive? What is going to happen to retirement plans and 401Ks that invested in ghost shares?

Stock market liquidity is not exactly fraudulent, the problem is what is hidden behind the liquidity. When Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) collapsed in March 2023, Circle—the company issuing the USD Coin (USDC) stablecoin—revealed that $3.3 billion of its cash reserves backing USDC were trapped inside SVB. Markets panicked because investors feared Circle wouldn’t be able to recover that money, causing USDC to temporarily “de-peg” and drop to around $0.87. Circle regained full access to its $3.3 billion reserve on Monday morning, USDC immediately restored its $1.00 peg, and holders suffered no financial losses.
Our solution to counter the BRICS’s mBridge is Project Agora. The core mechanics in Agora is a Two-Tier Banking Preserved; Central banks issue tokenized reserves, and commercial banks issue tokenized deposits to their clients.
When Bank A (in USD) sends funds to Bank B (in EUR), the commercial bank deposit tokens and “central bank reserve tokens!” exchange simultaneously on the programmable platform, removing settlement delays and correspondent bank credit risk. They call this Atomic Wholesale Settlement. Unlike issuing a separate stablecoin product like USDC or USDT, tokenized deposits represent earmarked existing funds in core banking systems (central and commercial) via ISO 20022 messaging standards (a modified CBDC).
The DTCC (Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation) merely focuses on tokenizing traditional financial assets—such as equities, bonds, and Treasuries—while holding the underlying physical or book-entry DTC assets as collateral in a trust or vault. Basically, DTCC acts as the asset token issuer/custodian, while an ecosystem like Project Agora acts as the settlement rail which handles the cross-border atomic settlement (DvP — Delivery vs. Payment), simultaneously swapping the DTCC tokenized share for digital commercial/central bank money instantly, eliminating traditional multi-day settlement delay.
Anyway, the way I see it, the problem with Project Agora two tier monetary system is that it allows commercial banks to turn standard commercial loans and deposit claims into tokenized bank deposits, making real-world credit instantly transferrable across borders. If the asset went south, it’s no longer an asset but mere liability. Agora would facilitate spreading the next financial meltdown with no lender of last resort.
Agora is not the solution for the current G7 financial ecosystem which runs on over $100 trillion in commercial bank deposits, derivatives, and sovereign bonds. it is designed to upgrade the aging “pipes” (SWIFT) without having to restructure the underlying balance sheets. It is merely an effort to keep the current engine running faster, even if the engine itself has known design limits.
It just occurs to me that this is like the old rock, paper and scissors game.
Agora’s claim-based instruments – The Agora Illusion (paper): Wrapping those deposits in a digital smart-contract token speeds up how fast they move across borders, but it does not change the solvency of the bank beneath them.
mBridge’s physical or direct asset (gold settlement anchored scissors) carries political risk following the exit of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and key regional partners like Saudi Arabia. mBridge operates primarily under a local entity framework.

This would be the first time for me to add a comment. Thank you Greg for having all your wonderful guests and experts in their field, for us. The timing for me personally could not have better with Martin Armstrong, although it feels a bit selfish as I write this , I was hoping you and some of you fellow commenters might possibly alay some concerns of mine regarding a financial position I am currently in.
After hearing Martin’s recommendation to focus on equities, real estate, Gold , silver I am slightly concerned I may have made a misttep 3 months ago after purchasing a 20 Treasury bond at 5 percent yield in hopes of generating some passive biannual income. Now ,since the purchase ,yeilds have continued to rise , rendering the value of the bond much less. That alone is not my primary concern,but Martin stressed he would not want to invest in Government debt. Is he worried the US Government may default on their bonds leaving me with zero or that a reset may also reduce that bond substantially, if not to zero . My intention , when I purchased the 20year bond ,has been to hold it to maturity,so the devaluation is not a critical point for me . I’d rather not sell the bond right now because I would be taking a substantial loss, but if the writing on the wall is that Government debt is no longer a safe haven, then I may just cut my losses and move into one of the more reliable equities,gold, silver, real estate.
I am 64 years old , and I just thought I was making a fairly prudent investment. I have most everything I need ;God ,health and love. I don’t need access to the principle money , which I put into the 20 year Treasury bond, but it would be beyond disconcerting, to have it all go up in a puff of smoke.

Dana, without knowing your concentrations in various investments its hard to say much- although typically bonds are laddered in a retirement scenario. It is also possible that we will see the bottoms fallout of all the tech finance, layoffs ramp up, and all the bond yields start coming down and then a 5% bond will look really good- but we never know. Ed Dowd is a good one listen to. I did want to encourage you to live your best life. There have been periods where i have worried and spent an unhealthy amount of time focused on finance. And we’re not even wealthy- i think. It seems i get the most joy out of the simpler things- like watching something grow. It’s my opinion our society doesn’t encourage curiosity and creativity nearly enough. There’s a number of things i would like to do if i had the time. One more word of caution- fear and anger are used all the time try to get us to do things which in hind sight were an obvious mistake.
There are some things about this interview that I just don’t understand.
For example, if the US is giving Ukraine targeting data for the drones and Starlink is helping them, how can Trump honestly tell China that “the US will not be involved?”
Other podcasts say the CIA is heavily involved in the Ukraine war. Does Trump not know that?
The Chinese must know of the US involvement in Ukraine. They have intelligence or else Russia would share their intelligence with them.
Is Trump going to cut that behind the scenes US military involvement?
I don’t see how the US can stay out of that war when we are already so heavily involved. The which means that if Russia, China, North Korea and maybe other countries come into the war, we will be in it also and could be bombed, maybe with a nuke.

We flew our airplane to one of the most unusual communities we’ve ever visited – 802 former WWII ammunition bunkers spread across the South Dakota prairie. ✈️
Today, hundreds of them are part of Vivos xPoint, where people are converting old military bunkers into homes and private shelters.
Getting there was part of the adventure too. xPoint has a private airport charted, but the runway hasn’t actually been built yet, so with permission, we landed Tina on one of the old military roads running through the property.

So, inquiring minds might ask, what would it take to make the US to not be the world’s largest consumer economy ? What effect does rampant inflation have on consumer spending ? Higher fuel costs make people take fewer Sunday drives and lessen consumer spending. Who can afford a new car these days ? Maybe, next time Marty comes on, ask him what it would take to make the US to not be the largest consumer economy. And, at what point does inflation and lack of jobs make the US to no longer be the world’s largest consumer economy, and what would be the outcome of tthat ? The trend at present appears to be headed in that direction, with all the job destruction (allegedly to “AI”) .
