Ron Paul (Unofficial) Commercial

Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com

This is a take-off on a commercial produced last November by Citizens Against Government Waste.  It was so controversial that major networks would not air it.  In this version, Congressman Ron Paul is inserted.  It is totally unofficial and not produced by the Paul campaign, but it is just as powerful as the original version.   I thought this would be fun to watch in now that the second Republican debate is behind us.

Here’s part of the write-up on the original commercial: A new television ad about the U.S. national debt produced by Citizens Against Government Waste has been deemed “too controversial” by major networks including ABC, A&E and The History Channel and will not be shown on those channels. The commercial is a homage to a 1986 ad that was entitled “The Deficit Trials” that was also banned by the major networks. Apparently telling the truth about the national debt is a little too “hot” for the major networks to handle. But perhaps it is time to tell the American people the truth.”  (Click here for more.)

Greg, print and spend our way of this mess could very likely result just as the silly ad suggest, but our politicans will never change their ways – and, old Perry is an empty suit, more of the same, too bad for America.

      Art,
      I couldn’t agree more.

The only issue I agree with Ron Paul is in our country’s finance and economics but in everything else he’s a miserable failure. Only last night in FLA he blamed the US for 9/11 reading quote from Osama Bin Laden and saying it’s the US policy that caused 9/11. I say regardless of US foreign policy at the time is no reason to murder 3000 people. In the last debate he said he disagrees with putting fence in our southern border and I heard in the past he supports citizenship for illegal immigrants. I do believe he’s also in favor of free trade because I haven’t heard him mention about jobs being outsourced. All and all he’s given nothing but a dangerous position when it comes to foreign policy which is the main job of the President.

      chowthen,
Thank you for adding your view to this site. We often praise Mr. Paul but constructive criticism always rounds out the discussion. I have to admit, I like Mr. Paul but I also like open debate and a free flow of ideas even it I do not always agree. Come back again.

      chowthen,

Ron Paul has never stated that US foreign policy is justification for the heinous acts on 911, but has consistently stated that the motivations for the attacks were based on US policy. There is a difference. Look no further than Al-Qaeda and comments made by Osama post 911 to know that this is fact (I recommend you watch this video interview with Michael Scheuer, former CIA Bin Laden Unit Chief: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udz5_FdoFGU). Please, don’t disparage the messenger for delivering truth. In these days of Orwellian doublespeak, truth is in limited supply; therefore, speaking honestly with the American people should be applauded. Nothing new for the good doctor though…since he’s been doing it for decades.

Regarding a fence…do we really want Soviet-era, East Berlin concrete, concertina, and gunner towers? How does that pattern with “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free…”? Paul provides simple solutions–and he is far from a sanctuary-city politician. He espouses enforcement of the existing laws, commonsense border enforcement, and ending the big “draws”–birthright citizenship along with taxpayer provided social services.

Trade? Ron Paul would propose doing away with the unconstitutional, corporatist free-trade *agreements* if president. Yes he is for free and open trade, but not the wealth-draining globalist systems in place now. Here is a quote from his 2008 book, “Revolution, A Manifesto”: I opposed both the North American Free Trade Agreement and the World Trade Organization, both of which were heavily favored by the political establishment. Many supporters of the free trade market supported these agreements. Nearly six decades ago when the International Trade Organization was up for debate, conservatives and libertarians agreed that supranational trade bureaucracies with the power to infringe upon American sovereignty were undesirable.

Miserable failure and dangerous? No…no, far from it. Consistent philosophical purveyor of liberty, individual freedoms, and the US Constitution? Yes…yes, absolutely once you learn the facts!

Did I also say he wants to END THE FED?!

      Ron Paul 2012!!!

Same. I like pauls view’s on economics. His attitude towards military is often mis-understood. It would be a transitional period and not a direct back-down to our foes.

Being a Ron Paul supporter requires one to think more than some folks are willing, or able, to do. Freedom is not the easiest path, unfortunately.

Thank You Greg for that gem ….. only our government would think that you can spend $100 to gain $25 in tax revenue ……

Yeah, I just watched this video the other night. I thought it was well done and really drove home the message. It would most definitely have a HUGE impact on voters if it was aired. No doubt it.

We like to say were all about “Freedom of speech” here.. But that only means.. “You can say what you want until its something we don’t like or agree with.” Then it becomes “controversial” – Hypocrisy as usual… Nothing new here.

Commercials for drugs that have side effects such as “suicidal tendencies, depression, heart failure, death, stroke, blood clotting, schizophrenia… etc” aren’t controversial, just that stuff that is likely to happen in the foreseeable future if we don’t act now. That kind of truth is too controversial. Sorry.

my jaw is still on the floor after watching the “debates” last night. still can’t believe what i saw. the exact same ambush that they pulled on dr. paul in the 08′ debates. the same question, do they attack us because of our foreign policy? or because they hate our freedoms? the same response by dr. paul. basically, its blowback from our foreign policy, and the same faked indignation by rudy….oops rick santorum was playing rudy’s part this time, pretty much the only difference other than the fact that santorum pulled it out of paul’s website and rudy responded directly to a statement by dr. paul. other than that….deja vu.

Obama gets four more years end of story. Petraeus is the most dangerous man alive and will back Obama and run all the neocons out of power. Ron Paul is not a neocon but the Republicans will not get power back because of what we all know they did to this country. It’s all about blackmail now and Obama and Petraeus have the power. Republicans know they won’t get the white house this time around, you will know by the job vote. Blackmail is a strong tool when you are talking about treason.

      Bob, Jerry and Sandy,
      Thank you for weighing in.

I don’t think the Ron Paul ad is in the interest of the United States – or for Ron Paul for that matter. It smacks of antisemitism – there are three references to Jewish organizations and a few others that many associate with Jews. Israel is not a liability to the US. There are no US soldiers there. It can – and perhaps ought to preemptively decline the three billion dollars it now receives. The Islamic countries in that part of the world do not hate America (Great Devil) for supporting Israel, they hate Israel because it is an extension of America.
Greg, your column is devoted to the poor fiscal policies of the US Congress, the socialist nature of this countries’ economic structure, the mortgage fraud and the damage that it left in its wake, too big to fail disasters, the inevitable failure of the the European Union and its fall out, unemployment misery and a host of other such unworkable systems that may come to haunt us in the future. Scapegoating is not going to solve America’s economic problems.

    • Greg

      Stan H,
I took down the cartoon. I did not catch the anti Jewish tone. I liked the cartoon because of the other politicians running against Dr. Paul that looked like snakes. This is NOT an anti Jewish site. I see Israel is a valuable ally of the U.S.

Ron Paul doesn’t BLAME the US for 911. That’s so ridiculous. He mistakenly assumed that people listening to him are intelligent enough to understand that. He tried to make the point that the reason for the 911 attack was not because “middle eastern people are jealous of our liberties”. Those people care about what is immediately affecting their way of life. If their families are being killed, then they become angry. A recent study showed that 90% of Afghans today do not even know that the US was attacked on 911, or what 911 is about. And when Afghans see a US soldier, they think he is a Russian soldier! Ask them about American liberties? They haven’t a clue. America needs the economy fixed NOW. What better way than to get out of these expensive and useless wars?

  10. Jerry

Thank you Greg, that was refreshing! Ron Paul is a man I support. An individual must study very carefully what he is saying to understand why he has the way to save America from the doom suffered by empires that get to far in debt. Americas days are numbered if keep printing and spending our way in to the debt of no return. We also haven’t realized that we are not the worlds policeman anymore. We can’t afford to be. We must take care of America’s people, her borders and economy first. Chowthen, yes 3000 people lost their lives needlessly. Now after that sad day, the afghan and Iraq wars have cost hundred of thousands of innocent people’s lives to get one man. You really support that as being the best answer to 911? My nephew just got back from 4 tours. He said it was not worth it. Also, Ron Paul is right on many issues beyond finance and economy. I don’t wish America to go the way of the Romans because of arrogant stupidity, Keynesian economics, and global policing policies. Keep up the great work Greg, your sure helping to get the people thinking. It can’t be more of the same any longer.

    • Greg

      Thanbk you Jerry.

    Greg,

I don’t remember exactly when I first watch the original video on the Internet – it could be around the 2008 presidential election. The video was criticized for its strong Anti-Chinese sentiment and might make many Chinese uncomfortable. The video was OK by itself. However, when the Bush administration and the MSM put up a campaign (back in 2008) to demonize China as an evil country that is going to take over the U.S., the video fueled the fire.

As the 2012 presidential election is getting closer, we will hear more and more propaganda to shift blames around. I bet that China will be once again blamed for our high inflation, depreciated currency, trade deficit, high unemployment, the list keeps going on and on. MSM never question the politicians for their failed policies. And politicians know how to blame the other party for their failures.

I found an interesting article from CNN Money, “American made … Chinese owned: Full version”, back in May 2010.
    http://money.cnn.com/2010/05/06/news/international/china_america_full.fortune/

I like one of the comments made by Karen McCormick (Jul 11, 2010):
“Wow, the Chinese are smart enough to figure out American factories, American workers are good for business, something American corporations are too blind to see. At this rate, the Chinese will own America soon, and maybe they deserve to.”

When CEOs are trying to get more bonus, more stock option, more pension, and more severance pay, they don’t care about the workers they left behind. Greedy CEOs and incompetent politicians are driving our nation to be a third world country.

    Ambrose

    • Greg

      Ambrose,
You hit the nail on the head when you said, “Greedy CEOs and incompetent politicians are driving our nation to be a third world country.” Thank you for the moment of clarity!
      Greg
