Big Losses for Banks Coming in 2026 – Charles Nenner

Last April, renowned geopolitical and financial cycle expert Charles Nenner predicted a depression cycle starting at the end of 2025 into 2026. The economy is clearly slowing down, and the latest “1 million plus” negative jobs revision that comes out Wednesday (2/11/26) certainly points to a tanking economy. Nenner says, “I have to adjust for all the immigrants let into the country, but we will soon see unemployment numbers go up.”
The next big downward surprise for the economy is big losses for the banks. Nenner predicts, “The institutions I work with that are selling real estate in New York are telling me a lot of banks are already negative. If you look in their books in California, they already had these big losses. They did not get out of their bonds because they thought interest rates would never go up. There are a lot of things that are already wrong, but it has not come out yet. I don’t know if there are going to be failures, but it will come out, and they will have big losses when they have to show the books.”
So, what is Nenner predicting will happen with the troubled banks? Nenner says, “I guess the Fed will step in or the government will step in . . . because if you are a banker and you lose a fortune, then you are always bailed out with tax money. This is why they never improve.”
With gold and silver, there is good news and bad news. First comes the bad news. I asked Nenner if he would be a buyer of silver and gold now? Nenner says, “No, not right now because the cycle is down for the moment. . .. It is the same thing for gold. The cycle is down. If we close below $4,700, we will get some downside price targets. Usually, things that go up fast also go down fast. It’s not over for gold and silver; it’s just a correction.”
Nenner put his clients in gold at $1,600 an ounce, and he bought silver at $29 per ounce. Now comes the good news, as Nenner points out, “The bull market for gold and silver will continue to the end of 2027. By then, we can do some fine tuning.”
On the war cycle, good news—for now. In the Middle East, Nenner says, “Right now, the war cycle is not going to heat up.” How about the war cycle for Europe and Russia? Nenner says, “No, they are not going to heat up either. The war cycles are topping right now. It’s not going to heat up for the short term.” Nenner is still worried about China and Taiwan at some point in the future. The really bad news on the war cycle comes in the 2030 to 2032 time frame. Nenner says, “The 2030 to 2032 war cycle is going to be very bad. There are going to be a lot of casualties. They start shooting rockets, and how many people are going to die? I think it will be in the billions of people, and that is what the numbers show.”
Nenner warns of terrorists let into the country by the Biden Administration that could set off bombs in the US “on a big scale.” Nenner contends this will be part of the war cycle that comes at the end of this decade. Nenner also said Trump could help cushion the financial fall of the USA, but he could not stop the down financial cycle. Nenner pointed out, “You cannot stop winter, but you can get a winter coat, and Trump is a winter coat.” Now, Nenner says, “There was so much damage done to America that Trump can’t fix it. . .. The cycle is turning down, and you can’t do anything about it.” Nenner also predicted in January of 2024 that President Trump “would be coming back.”

The so-called “End Times” began 2026 years ago. However, the “Last Days” may have started the clock in 1948 with the restoration of the Nation of Israel, thus fulfilling a Biblical promise to the Jewish people (come home). Michael Burry, M.D. closed down his hedge fund Scion Investments, LLC last year. The new (high) volatility Martin Armstrong predicted is now here and many Hedge Funds apparently are not profiting from it. However, he has a new subscription newsletter “Cassandra II”. Evidently there is lots of money to be made writing about investments vs. active asset management. (He retired). Overpopulation of financial advisory firms.
Predictions of massive bank failures for 2025 onward remain largely unfulfilled, probably because as Nenner suggested, FED bailouts and accounting tricks that in-effect, keep loan losses off-the-books so don’t appear on their balance sheets, financial statements. Hiding things makes our financial system appear more fraudulent, hence the appeal of physical gold and silver all the way to 2030 but with a great many corrections on the road to $10,000 /ounce gold and $165 silver (Martin Armstrong’s recent forecast here a short while ago). Another very long-term trend is fewer bank loans and fewer bank branches, especially in California. Makes sense.
A friend of mine runs a subscription newsletter called “One Bar Ahead”. Keith wrote Monday that there are “8 tradeable derivative products layered upon each individual company share of stock”, creating a huge supply for investors to buy/sell. Most of the selling is large institutional money, causing big run-ups and then sharp corrections, as aggregate demand ebbs and flows. Most equity, bond, and derivative trading is all done with high-speed algorithms anymore. The market is comprised of a bunch of A.I. bots “duking it out”.
So, again, as Martin Armstrong commented recently, capital flows are now the primary driver of market action not necessarily a booming domestic economy (obviously with unemployment on the rise). Not necessarily a healthy market. So, the old relationship between one share of stock and demand for it by investors is no longer valid (Kaput).
In-addition, it has been said there are up to 366 investors for each ounce of gold in GLD vaults!! So, owning physical gold vs. derivatives of gold or silver makes the most financial sense overall. (Just don’t try to trade it). I believe the COMEX is not where the price of gold is “fixed” today due to a dearth of bullion in COMEX vaults to back it up in the event of a contract demand for physical delivery.
America is all about lots of paper and promises to pay, like an old-fashioned promissory note (uncollaterized) of course. Payday loans, formalized “Buy now, pay later” consumer payment arrangements from PayPal? Personal Debt is everywhere as we morph from an ownership society into a nation of huskers and liars. (We think we deserve Saints in public offices). Instead, we get rascals. LOL
Californians who receive a traffic fine (infraction) owe on average $238 per moving violation (2026 California Uniform Bail and Traffic Fine Schedule).
L.A. County Superior Court even has formalized buy now pay later payment arrangements with financial providers in-addition to the standard Visa and Mastercard payment alternatives for traffic fines, sic. offenses.
In-response to it all, the physical gold and silver markets globally have quietly been migrating from London and New York to Shanghai Metals Market. China called-out our fraudulent metals market last Thanksgiving but we still are extending and pretending as if our “emperor still has His cloths on”.
Americans can rest assured they will be able to borrow and continue to live the High Life for a few more years, just as long as someone will loan them the funds necessary to do so. Remember “Whimpey” the cartoon character who always needed another Hamburger but promised to pay for it tomorrow? Now, potentially Everyman is a proverbial Whimpey, even at Burger “King” (buy now, pay later payment plans). Would a name change possibly be in-order here, say to “Burger Serf “? LOL
Public and consumer confidence is now in long term decline but no panics as yet. (Martin Armstrong did forecast 2026 to be a “Panic Year”). Meanwhile, smart money has been quietly migrating out of equities and towards tangible assets: precious metals, productive real estate, farms, food, and water rights (Bill Gates). These essentials will always have real utility and value. Paper does not.
Just wait until the financial system overtly fails post-2032 A.D. Martin says indebted Western nations will collapse and by implication, an ECM “phase transition” followed by market collapse and a (Great) Depression II. Nenner is also forecasting war in the early 2030’s, possibly WWIII. The stars seem to be lining-up for a crescendo and then comprehensive failure or collapse of all overly indebted (corrupt) Western governments, kicking-off hard times (1929, 2029). Just deserts?

I am relieved and overjoyed to hear China is not an existential military threat to us in North America. If only that were true of our allies, such as Tiawan or even nearby Japan. China itself may never become a true global empire in our lifetimes as your scholarly friend maintains. However, China can and will menace the Indio-Pacific Region as a major regional (military) power.
Furthermore, China can disrupt sea-lanes and global trade routes, causing supply line issues and shortages. China is a predator nation masquerading as a trade partner while funding ICE insurrections in the United States and exporting fentanyl to destabilize American cities. CHINA IS NOT A BENIGN INFLUENCE BY ANY MEASURE.

If you have a spine of steel, you can buy gold and silver now and especially on the dips. Yes, there will be volatility, but when gold and silver turns back into high demand you might have to pay high premiums- or you might not get any at all because of shortages. So, scaling a little into gold and silver every week isn’t a bad strategy right now.

He seems to be a bit behind what is happening in this country. The job numbers show employment is steadily going up. Trump immediately went out and secured investments. You cannot turn around a country and screwed up economy like we got left with overnight. It could take a couple of years. A factory takes 1-3 years build.

I believe Putin, XI and Trump are working together behind the scenes. Other wise they both would have gone full out war left to their own devices with no constraining element, namely Trump.
