Iran-US War Could Speed Up Global Recession – Ed Dowd

Wall Street money manager and financial analyst Ed Dowd of PhinanceTechnologies.com warned at the end of May we could see “$250 a barrel oil and 11% inflation as a worst-case scenario in 2026.” That didn’t happen—yet. Dowd explains, “We had two scenarios when we talked last. One was the conflict would get resolved in the April – May time frame. Oil would peak out around $125 (per barrel), and inflation would peak out in May and go lower. That’s what happened, but recently, MOU (Memorandum of Understanding with Iran) has been torn up and oil is back on the rise. Oil collapsed to around the low $70s to high $60s after the MOU. It’s now $80 and change. So, unless this is resolved quickly, the other scenario is on the table. . .. If the conflict continues and gets worse, and you want to watch it progress, if we break out technically, meaningfully to $100 to $125, and back test and hold support, then the next level is $200 to $250 a barrel. All we are talking about here is my thesis that we are going into a global recession, and it gets pulled forward that much quicker. We will have a burst of inflation and massive demand destruction.”
The Iran/US war is not the only headwind Dowd sees. AI (artificial intelligence) investment is in bubble territory according to Dowd, and the lights are about to go out on that trade. Dowd says, “The stock market is 45% AI and AI adjacent. When the equity market figures out the party may be slowing or it’s over, that will affect the stock market. It’s a feedback loop that I think is beginning. Let’s call it the AI summer of discontent. . .. Closing time is closer than most people think. The party has been going on for a while. We had this huge impulse in semiconductor stocks in April and May. The indices have 17% to 19% of the S&P 500, the semiconductor index. That is a warning sign in and of itself. This is a notoriously cyclical boom and bust industry. . .. There is inflation going on in this . . . AI build. All the projections of return on investment are going the way of the dodo bird because they are now paying exorbitant prices for commodity memory chips. Also, power costs are going up, and they have to build power plants. The whole math does not work with the AI infrastructure in the credit driven AI complex. So, the math kind of implodes on itself at some point. . .. I think the party is closer to the end than the beginning, and closing time will be upon us soon.”
When the AI bubble pops, Dowd expect a “nasty pullback in the stock market.” This is why Dowd is telling investors to raise cash levels just like famed investor Warren Buffett is doing by holding record amounts of cash in his fund. Dowd says, “Cash is dry powder.” And for those who think the US dollar is going to tank, Dowd thinks just the opposite and says, “The dollar looks quite bullish.”
Dowd still likes gold as a core asset, and his target price is unchanged at $10,000 per ounce in the next few years.

Dirt Rider, a few years ago, I was scanning my emails and noted one from “Emily” advising hat my package was delivered. I clicked on it, and all hell broke loose. My computer monitor went crazy. All my files were destroyed, and saved copies of art work. (I’m an artist.). It happened within a couple of minutes. The group called themselves “Ransomware.” I had been reading about them in the local newspaper. Ransomware had been attacking and stealing patient records from hospitals. Then they would demand thousands of dollars from the hospital in order to return the hospital records. In my case, Ransomware did not demand money.
However, they stole my saved art work and trashed everything. Then they displayed photos of themselves laughing and giving each other high five signs. They were young black men who appeared to be in a foreign country. I immediately turned off my computer and had it hauled off, along with the monitor. It was a frightening experience! One that I will never forget. After that terrible episode, I never click on an email unless I am confident that it is legitimate. Linda

Dirt Rider, I switched to proton mail. It is my understanding that they are excellent at keeping our emails safe. It was very alarming to watch my computer system destroyed within minutes. Linda I had the same happen to my windows computer,,, I was running Kaspersky internet security and my attack was from Russia and like you my computer froze and a picture of a Demon came on the screen,, I had to reboot that took forever,,,( I rebooted windows 12 times ) but I learned a lot back then on all of this junk,,, I switched to all Apple Products and use Google and havn’t had issues ,,, zero !!! Both are incredibly invasive for data gathering but so is everything else,,,,Flock cameras are going up everywhere and now I see Flock drones will be in use soon,,, I think this oil and refinery destruction is intentional to lock us down and we will lose our freedoms and resemble Chinas police state,,,, This is unfolding right in front of us ,,,,

Could Oil go down, Refined Gas up?
Remember when oil futures went to zero because of buyers had no place to store it as all storage was full?

Could not the Iran and Ukraine war’s destruction of so much of the oil refinery, transport, and storage result in a similar event where oil goes down but Refined gas and diesel triple or more?
A similar example in California where the refineries were so over regulated they closed down because of Upgrade costs ? Now the price you pay for gas in Gavin Nonesense land is ridiculous.
When John scribed Revelations 6:6 the “oil”was olive oil for lamps.

There are other issues at hand not mentioned so I have a different view. Oil at 250 is not going to take place since Trump will have better control over the war with the bunker buster he just dropped and the public preparing to come against the hard liners in Iran. There’s enough oil getting through to prevent that anyway. Aramco has the resources to use alternative routes, and that alternative as insiders know is well under way, along with other nations threats coming against Iran’s limited ability to wage war. My firm’s partners dealt with their security chief years ago, call him George, in the effort to sell a refinery. We acted as paymaster for the sellers side as we led that effort with only one broker involved. The deal came very close but ultimately failed. Al Waleed was extremely corrupted but that’s old news now. Iran is not in control over the shipping. They have a limited effect, as attacks move inland. Demand destruction is therefore unlikely. If oil reached 100 your talking inflation enough to change prices in many areas. I can see a slow down however, come about in the US mfg. development by lack of capital for AI. A serious issue is the draining of both energy and water. Infrastructure would be at a great disadvantage in public supply. There’s also the issue of their locations being very suspiciously located in proximity to the DUMBS. I suspect that’s where the real need is for water. The deep state know they face a retreat as all they do FAILS. Their alternative is a rope at Gitmo. God’s hand is against them and this is not the time for the mark to surface. AI investment will fall short. There are also the quakes & floods waking the public in effected nations like Venezuela & Mexico for example, for people to change their lives and come out of Babylon. These will include Canada with a couple of quakes that I suspect will be in the news. Quebec has already beaten down the incursion of Muslim activities in their use of public facilities for their prayers interrupting daily life. Several laws are now in effect and this is going to spread to other provinces. Quebec is more aware than other provinces of issues effecting the way of life. Already 56% of Quebec youth are willing to separate from Canada, but separation will ultimately not take place. Nor will it happen in Alberta. Carny however is not long for his office as Canadians gain understanding with public knowledge of his side interests being questioned. China will be forced to back away from Canadian political interference now that Trump has exposed their involvement in the west.

Greg, always good to hear from Mr. Dowd. Likely with his resume’ he is well connected with some of the Blackrock inside players and analysts and has a sense of how ‘their’ game works the derivatives and bond markets.
Of course, some of BlackRock’s highest placed executives were/still are very tight with the Biden advisory crew so likely have their fingers in where this is all heading.
As to Buffett’s moves, he too is pretty connected guy and likely knows the risks and the bubbles upon bubbles now being popped and what needs to be done to keep a spread to minimize the damage. Some areas of the nation might get away with a lesser recession, while other states, most certainly will seem if not go into a depression…as so much of the trillions being spent are only about 39 of the states.
As this same oil price problem as popped up several times due to such events…those states that use gasoline taxes as a ‘source’ of state revenue, those states will cast more pain to their residents for sure. Those that saw these ‘shortages’ leading to higher prices coming might have bought stock in CLMT .which is up nicely..so if they put in a few thousand, they might have already gotten ahead of their gas or diesel costs…those with say $5000 might be well ahead of the price increases and actually, depending on how much fuel and types they use…covered their farm/ranch or personal vehicles energy use?
I remember hearing in a podcast, maybe it was one of Dowd’s? That many companies were ordering chips ahead of any coming possible shortages, and also fudging their orders higher hoping to get more sooner than later, and now are cancelling orders having already gotten enough in stock…which then will lower the revenue of the chip makers? Also, the anti- data center push is on for sure…so we all will have to see which of those data projects will be stalled or stopped and see how many of those jobs will melt away. But then, those other states many of who are TDS states, are not getting but maybe 1 or 2% of the trillions, so still will lose more of their populations to those states that ARE creating jobs while ‘their’ states are sadly increasing taxes very creatively to offset the jobs lost, and companies leaving their states.
That said, there is so much happening, geo-politically, in party politics, with the economy, and financial distress, cyclical and modification of weather, food and supply challenges that are cross impacting each other, let alone the war-conflicit aspects themselves…one wonders if or even how analysts, especially with the obvious lies and rigging of markets we all know are going on…can even have a possible true appraisal…of course too, chaos is ‘their’ game…and when the world hierarchy can ‘skew’ the data, have because of ‘their’ wealth and ability to ‘influence’ political and military will upon the dumbed down, as well as the multitude who just sit on their or just deny reality, one might see that without a few sheepdogs not much will change.
So here we are…vote for national socialism, or communism which is but the same with a bayonet…or MAGA…last chance or it will likely be many decades before the time to right the ship back to what the Declaration of Independent was meant to achieve. Time for people to vote for the beliefs, values, and lifestyles, personal freedoms, and property rights or just go get in line for a state ‘rent controlled’ housing unit…and a ‘universal basic income’ stipend which will be allowed to be spent for what is allowed by one’s social score.

It reveals the extent of the ongoing destruction of the dollar’s purchasing power in no uncertain terms. It may help some of your friends better understand why holding gold and/or silver is so important.

My thoughts have been spelled out repeatedly on a coming reset in the metals due to long-term supply spoofing and subsequent price suppression for both metals. The July 24th changes for leveraged futures trading in gold in Shanghai and Hong Kong are a shot across the bow for the paper-dependent price discovery mechanism.
Subsequently, I think both metals…and especially silver have room to run. The chart generated for silver suggests suppression has played a role in terms of silver’s performance compared to gold and the big moves could be ahead. Even so, it would have kept you even or better in terms of purchasing power. We’ll see what happens in the last half of this year…
