Iran War is Only Matter of Time

By Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com

Two weeks ago, Iranians were saved from pirates on their hijacked ship by the U.S. Navy.  Last week, the U.S. military saved a sinking ship in the Persian Gulf.  It’s too bad that will not be enough goodwill to stop the coming Iran war.  Headlines in the last few weeks look like a stark warning for a coming conflict.  The West, spearheaded by America, is putting into place tougher sanctions that will target Iran’s financial and oil interests.  Tension has been increasing by the week over the nuclear program that Iran steadfastly claims is for the peaceful production of energy.  New sanctions will be fully implemented in about six months.

Iran has threatened to shut the Strait of Hormuz if sanctions are carried out.  Iran has also warned Gulf oil producers against boosting production if  an embargo stops or slows oil from the region.  (Click here for more on this story.)   The U.S. has warned Iran against any action to close this narrow shipping passage where up to 40% of the world’s oil passes every year.  The Pentagon has flatly said it will not allow that to happen.  Meanwhile, the U.S. has warned Israel not to attack Iran.  The Wall Street Journal reported over the weekend, “U.S. defense leaders are increasingly concerned that Israel is preparing to take military action against Iran, over U.S. objections, and have stepped up contingency planning to safeguard U.S. facilities in the region in case of a conflict.  President Barack Obama, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and other top officials have delivered a string of private messages to Israeli leaders warning about the dire consequences of a strike. The U.S. wants Israel to give more time for the effects of sanctions and other measures intended to force Iran to abandon its perceived efforts to build nuclear weapons.”  (Click here for the complete WSJ report.)

High ranking Israeli government officials are reportedly frustrated the U.S. is not moving faster to thwart Iran’s nuclear program.  Reuters reported yesterday, “Moshe Yaalon, Israel’s vice prime minister, contrasted the administration’s posture to that of France and Britain, which he said ‘are taking a very firm stand and understand sanctions must be imposed immediately.  In the United States, the Senate passed a resolution, by a majority of 100-to-one, to impose these sanctions, and in the U.S. administration there is hesitation for fear of oil prices rising this year, out of election-year considerations.  In that regard, this is certainly a disappointment, for now.’   Yaalon told Israel Radio.”  (Click here to read the complete Reuters story.)

Tensions are boiling even more since the assassination of a young Iranian nuclear scientist in Tehran last week.  Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan was killed by a car bomb.  The U.S. says it had nothing to do with the killing.  The Iranians suspect it came from Israel, but it has not officially taken responsibility.  No matter where it came from, Iran is outraged over what the West would surely call an act of terrorism if it happened on their soil.  The New York Times reported last week, “Iran expressed deepening fury at Israel and the United States on Thursday over the drive-by bombing that killed a nuclear scientist in Tehran the day before, and signaled that its Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps might carry out revenge assassinations.  News of the scientist’s killing dominated Iran’s state-run news media, which were filled with vitriolic denunciations both of Israel, seen in Iran as the main suspect in his death, and the United States, where top officials have gone out of their way to issue strongly worded denials of responsibility.   Israeli officials, who regard Iran as their country’s main enemy, have not categorically denied any Israeli role in the killing, which came against a backdrop of growing pressure on Iran over its disputed nuclear program.”  (Click here to read the complete NYT story.)

The story is confusing and U.S. officials past and present seem at odds over Iran’s nuclear program.  U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said a little more than a week ago, “Are they trying to develop a nuclear weapon? No. But we know that they’re trying to develop a nuclear capability, and that’s what concerns us.”  (Click here for the complete story.)  John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said over the weekend Iran could have a bomb in “less than” a year.    (Click here for more on that story.)  All this is taking place against a backdrop of a U.S. military buildup as another new carrier battle group is in the Arabian Sea and another is on its way.  (Click here for more on this story.)   Is this all part of a plan for the Middle East that U.S. General Wesley Clark (Ret.) talked about in March of 2007?  Clark said the U.S. military was mapping out a systematic take-down of Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Iran.  (Click to hear General Clark for yourself.)

Plan or no plan, tensions are escalating, and it’s not just with Iran, but China and Russia as well.  Both are allies, and both countries have said they would come to Iran’s aid if attacked.  Just yesterday, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said, “Iran is our close neighbor, just south of the Caucasus. Should anything happen to Iran, should Iran get drawn into any political or military hardships, this will be a direct threat to our national security.”  (Click here to read more on this story from Russia Today.)  Attacking Iran will not be as easy as attacking Iraq, Afghanistan or Libya.  Those countries had no allies, but Iran is different.  China and Russia provide substantial military muscle.  If Iran is attacked for not backing down on its nuclear program, this could turn into a nuclear World War III in short order.

    Greg.
If Iran is building nuclear war heads, Why is china, and russia supporting them? would we support nuclear missles in mexico. For this reason i dont think there making weapons.

    • masterluke

      Jay

Maybe its profitable for China/Russia to support them.

    • wisefool

Jay, I’m really not making sense of your logic there. It’s no different than the bully that comes with 2 of his friends, not to mention our mafia government is in bed with Mexico’s mafia government. It all boils down to globalism eventually, and this is the only way it will make sense.

  2. jay

Greg. One could say, When the first nuke flies billions will die. Oboma could put in place martial law. under ndaa, and the patriot act he can hire foreign troops to controll american people if need be.
Can he remain president as long as theres a war going on ? If so this would explain why Ron Paul has not been assinated yet. They may have a totaly different plan this time. I know i can count on you, and the folks on this site to correct me where im wrong.

  3. M SMITH

Greg, the U.S. & Europe are backed in a corner. With the down grades of many EU nations & the U.S. Banks setting on trillions of worthless derivatives the back room dictators will gladly start a war to keep people minds off the death of the dollar. I found this interview of Jim Rickards to be more than what I wanted to hear, but the truth is always a better way to confront those in congress who support going to war. Also Rickards said it won’t be a war with out losses to the U.S., the Iranians have the ablity to take out a ‘carrier’, what gives congress the right to take us to war when we have no proof of Iran’s building a nuke? Here is the link to Rickards interview. http://kingworldnews.com/kingworldnews/Broadcast/Entries/2012/01/14_Jim_Rickards.html.

The back room dictators running the government needs to be outed for what they are, corporate facist with no morals period & could care less if we lose the lives of our fine young military personal over oil, yes oil & to try to keep the dollar alive a little longer while they reep huge profits that war gives them!

If Rickards is correct, there is many black days ahead of us. Armstrong has already posted a piece this morning saying 2013 to 2017 we will witness the roll out a new currency. We don’t live in interesting times, we are about to see our worst nightmare come true!

      M Smith,

are you one of those israeli-firsters?

        • Greg

Another crisis to for the enemies of freedom to justify taking more of our liberties. Military action against Iran would keep Ron Paul out or office, thus keeping the stronghold of the MIC and the FED intact.

    • Kevin

Hate to say it, but Ron Paul is not going to win regardless of what happens in the Middle East. It’s a shame, this country needs someone like him… now more than ever.

  5. Hoppe

Oh btw, did you hear the interview with the Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani of Qatar? It was pointed out that they are friendly with Russia, Iran, Israel, China, the U.S. and Hamas, then observed as a question by the reporter; “it seems Qatar is trying to be trade with and be friends with everyone in the world?” To which the Sheik replied with a smile, Yeah, what’s wrong with that?”

  6. Barry

Greg, Is it just a ploy the US warning Israel not to attack and the recent cancelling of the Israeli/US war games (not to antagonize Iran)? I know the US is still moving more carrier battle groups down there. We haven’t seen this many in the Persian Gulf since Shock & Awe. Thank you so much for all you do!!!! 🙂

    • Greg

      Barry,
      Thank you!

  7. Art Barnes

Greg, World War III? I think not, Russia & China won’t go to war for the nuclear facilities of Iran, which will be the only targets. After all, China can continue to get oil from Iran with bombed out nuclear sites. And should Iran’s regime not survive such political bombing China can pay for and get the oil from the new regime. Having said all that, why is the United States slow playing the new sanctions you discussed above when the UK & France have commenced putting them in place? Six or so months hence is the end of July or August or maybe a little latter, September/October. Wag the dog comes to mind. Look, six months without oil spikes and see how the campaign is going, then if badly, maybe a buildup of a hot conflict just about election time. I don’t know, but there must be a reason for the slow timeline(s) and my postulation is you can have you cake and eat it too, meaning, low oil prices leading up to the election and if polling is bad then you have a “wag the dog” to go to if you need it in reserve.

As to WWIII the two countries you discussed, Russia & China, are not in reality enemies of the US. You don’t go to war against a non-enemy. Therefore, Iran is not a large enough prize or interest for them to want to engage a holocaust upon the world. Mainly a lot of posturing. Deals will be made to attack Iran, perhaps the US will continue not asking for trade sanctions with China and discounts for Iran oil will be given in exchange. As for Russia, they will be allowed to have higher prices for their oil making them more wealthy and perhaps a small eastern country or two to occupy as a bribe. All in all, Iran will not be allowed to go Nuclear and they are becoming believers that they are not going to be allowed to get away with it. That is why they keep crying like a spoiled child not getting its way. Frankly, its only been about a year that that realization came to light because before that it looked like they would out maneuver the west. What the little guy in the well didn’t see coming was the American election and the poor economy driving the unrest. The little well guy never learned in school its not a good idea cross a western superpower during an election year.

    • Greg

      Art,
I hope you are right. Thank you.
      Greg

    • David Howard

In the summer of 1914 they said it was all a lot of posturing, too. Russia wouldn’t go to war over little Serbia, now, would they. Nor would France or England. So much for posturing. As for sanctions, they have never worked. They sure did not work against Japan and the anti-Japanese sanctions were definitely strong ones. Those who are ignorant of history and those who ignore it are doomed to repeat it. The more things change, the more they remain the same. Once the shooting starts all bets are off, all the plans go out the windows along with all the posturing. In August, 1914 all the pre-war theorizing turned out to utterly false. Ditto in September, 1939 and December, 1941. I have a quiet, lost and forgotten place to go hide and a family gold mine. You will see this war from your front window, not on your TV. Bye.

War is coming. If IranI wants ato nuke i say give them 5. Nuke them now and get it overwith.

I would not put it past them to start WW3 and people better start paying attention to what is happening around the world. If according to General Clark that a decision was made to take down several countries years back, could there be a connection between the 2008 bank failures and the war plans? Could it be to disrupt the capability of other than the USA to be able to wage war by financially crippling Europe, Russia and China? After all being the world reserve currency, we print money. A two edge sword to claim both the paper and mineral wealth of the planet.
There have been many studies about peak oil and the finite resourses which emerging third world countries will compete for in the future. This may be, acquire all you can, while you can phase. War being the destructive element, enables a new beginning from the ashes of the old. One point. The bankers never lose. They support the war machine that wins and rebuilds the destroyed nations.
A regional war with conventional weapons is one thing. A nuclear exchange is another. One which can bring other nasties like chemical and biological warfare. I’ll let your mind dwell on that thought for some time.
So who are the big players? USA, RUSSIA and CHINA. All have massive resoures and big military’s. The cold war did not end. Just the way they go about doing it. Too much POWER to give up.
The last go around involving production of Saudi oil, was about 10 million barrels max. Now it’s 12.5 with an old oil field needing water injection to maintain pressure to the well heads.
Interesting with 2.5 million barrels just like that! Like 1.2 million dollars. Just like that.
By 2020 it is estimated the worlds population will reach 7 billion. A very short time. The “Elite” had a name for us. What was it?
Oh, yes I remember now. Wasteful Eaters.

Thanks for outlining all this information in one place. I would agree with you, its only a matter of time.

  11. FNPMitchreturns

Lindsey Williams says that it won’t happen until the fall which would be bad for the American people because they won’t have time to prepare for the winter. If this happened in the spring and gas went to $7 a gallon people would run out and plant gardens anywhere they could which would give the people some supplies for the winter… however if it happens in the fall no chance to grow a summer bounty; fuel oil and natural gas will be too expensive for most; almost too late to convert to alternative heating fuel …. anyway, I agree this war will happen and I expect Isreal to attack and then the US will have to defend the Straits of Hourmouz … The Isrealis already know that we are locked inot protecting the world oil routes out of the ME …. Isreal has the US right where they want us … between a rock and strait!

  12. AndyB

A lot of propaganda, disinformation, and war mongering going on, enabled by a complicit MSM. You have to wonder about the motives of the puppet masters, both here and in Europe, even as the oxymoronic “humanitarian” invasion of Lybia has been exposed for its true agenda. Will a war with Iran push gas prices over $10/gallon here in the US? Of Course. Will that alone implode Western economies? Of course. In connecting the dots, does the recent total destruction of the US Bill of Rights mean that the New World Order of a global totalitarian state is just around the corner? Who knows; but it’s certainly a distinct possibility.

  13. Sean

    Nice report, Greg.

I’ve connected a few dots below that are directly relevant.

Regarding the accusations of Iranian nuclear capabilities, I find it interesting (and typical) that the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) members are claiming a threat, while the non-memeber is claiming no threat. This is the same pattern that occured in the build-up to war on Iraq based upon a fabricated case of WMD’s. Here’s the link to CFR member roster:
    http://www.cfr.org/about/membership/roster.html

U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta’s comment:
“Are they trying to develop a nuclear weapon? No.”

Leon Panetta IS NOT on the CFR roster and his comment is negative regarding an Iranian nuclear threat. Going back mre than 50 years, it’s very rare for a US Sec Def to not be a CFR member.

    John Bolton’s comment:
“John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said over the weekend Iran could have a bomb in “less than” a year.”
John Bolton IS on the CFR Roster and his comment is positive regarding an Iranian nuclear threat. Historically, the US Ambassador to the UN is chosen from within the CFR, so no surprises here.

    U.S. General Wesley Clark (Ret.):
“Clark said the U.S. military was mapping out a systematic take-down of Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Iran.”
Wesley Clark IS on the CFR Roster and his comment is positive regarding an Iranian nuclear threat. Clark was the NATO Supreme Allied Commander which is always staffed by an American, who is always slected from among US senior military staff who are aexisting CFR members at the time of their appointment. You can independently verify that using the roster link (above, and the SAC detail linked below:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supreme_Headquarters_Allied_Powers_Europe#Supreme_Allied_Commander_Europe_.28SACEUR.29

Keep in mind also that Council on Foreign Relations members control all six mainstream media corporations (90% of US media) and they control 90% of US wealth. The CFR is also the “think tank” that introduced and promoted globalism, free trade agreements, the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, the International Monetary Fund. and many other initiatives that have reduced US sovereignty as they use their control over media, government, schools, and the military to achieve their objectives.

If you look into General Clark’s comment about the US plan on a systematic takedown of the listed nations, you don’t need to look any further than a policy book written by another CFR member in 1997. Zbigniew Brzezinski, former National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter, wrote “The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy And Its Geostrategic Imperatives”. In this book, Brzezinski details a long-term plan for US domination of Central Asia and the Middle East as a means to maintain US predominance in the face of rising China and a re-emerging Russia. In the book he laments that US citizens won’t support pre-emptive warfare unless they believe that a direct external threat exists to justify US occupation. Brzezinski is a senior foreign policy advisor to President Obama.

    Here’s an interesting Brzezinski quote:
“The precondition for eventual and genuine globalization is progressive regionalization because by that we move towards larger, more stable, more cooperative units.” – Zbigniew Brzezinski, speaking at the Gorbachev Conference, September, 1995

The Bush Administration introduced MEFTA in 2003 – the Middle East Free Trade Agreement. Progressive regionalization? The opening sentence on the US MEFTA website states the following:
“In May 2003, the U.S. proposed the Middle East Free Trade Area Initiative (MEFTA) initiative, a plan of graduated steps for Middle Eastern nations to increase trade and investment with the United States and with others in the world economy, with the eventual goal of a regional free trade agreement.”

Go back to “The Grand Chessboard”, written by Brzezinski in 1997. Look at the actual maps and target nations in the document and you will see and understand how all of these activities in Central Asia (and the Middle East) have been part of a long term economic strategy to achieve global economic regionalization.

Here’s something to keep in mind: In the broader scheme of world economics, political oriantation within a nation (democracy, socialism, fascism, theocracy, monarchy, etc) doesn’t matter when your goal is control. What matters is that you are the one calling the shots and reaping the rewards. Those who think of corporate capitalism as a philosophy that operates best under democracy are thinking along very narrow lines. For example, the most succesful monopolist would control the wealth of en entire nation.

Imagine if you controlled (or fully aligned with) the leadership of China, and could shift your entire manufacturing force into a nation that outlaws protest and prevents any and all union action against you. What a perfect marriage! A globalist could easily ignore the effects of their policy on their home nation, even as houses of cards collapse in various regions, just so long as they keep their eyes on the prize: Regional economic control of nations. Under that scenario, they can restructure in their favor once all of the domino’s have fallen into place.

    • Greg

Thank you Sean for the analysis.

It seems as if Israeli elite and related intelligence agencies (all beholden to the Crown in some way) are going out of their way to provoke Iran into a conflict, which might result in World War III.
One suggestion would be to arm the various Neocon chickenhawk flapping lips with the Israeli elite as well as the corrupt banker families (leave good people of Israel and the United States out of this lunacy)and have them march up the hill to attack the Mullahs of Iran (leave good people of Iran out of it. Should be a good show and will save a lot of carnage.

If you cannot fathom a theological cult faith of cult islamic shariah law then you will just waste your time trying to make peace or extending your hand, they will look at you with intolerance and call you a weak willed fool.
If we can the way to defeat this kind of long standing tyranny is to undermine them and support their detractors to keep them of balance and interfere with their attempts to spread their hate. Plan for their fall by their own hand and let them be another bad choice that went off into the fog of history’s anals.
Right now we are looking to see if we or they will blink, this cult loves to play this game, it is a mistake not to be proactive and intent on putting the ideas of the west into the failing theocratical and putting them and their intolerable ways on display and offer the swell of opposition support new ideas to supplant tyranny.

it has been awhile since i have posted here. it’s just getting too difficult to respond without going off on a tangeant anymore.

if you have any sense of history at all, you may well realize that what we are doing to iran is almost an exact repeat of how we baited japan into attacking pearl harbor in order to create enough public outrage for us to get into wwII with the “blessing” of the people. sanctions, sanctions, sanctions until japan could not function in international trade. then, for the first and only time in the history of the u.s. navy, we parked the entire north pacific fleet (save for one very valuable aircraft carrier which was oddly sent out to hide in the pacific, into once smalll space like a bunch of sitting ducks and baited japan into attacking. of course, japan took tha bait and the corporate world made billions (in 1940’s dollars no less) not only rebuilding and upgrading the fleet, but by building the most lethal war machine the world had ever seen up until that point in history. profits, profits and more profits. and all it cost was a few hundred thousand murders.

so here we go again. how many sitting ducks are going to fit into the arabian sea before the tempation becomes too great for iran to ignore? like the norpac fleet of the forties, these surface ships and their crews are quite expendable. when push comes to shove and the new world war goes nukie, the final destruction will come from the several hundred nuke submarines that have been patrolling off the shores of every continent on earth for decades. between china, russia, the u.s., great britain and france, there is enough nuclear weaponry under the surface of our oceans and seas to lay waste to the population of the planet within about an hour’s time. a very conservative estimnate.

the elite, of course, have their contingencies and their hidey holes. they plan to emerge into a new world of wonder. a world which they will control completely. and here is where their plan kinda breaks down. their new world will be populated by pretty much nothing but sociopaths, trying to make a paradise in a world haunted by the pissed off ghosts of 7 billion murdered souls. they will begin to turn on each other almost immediately. the end.

yeah it’s a dark picture, and not etched in stone by any means, but all the elements are in play to make it happen just like that.

i can’t speak for you or anyone else, but personally, i would kinda like to see the fate of all mankind heading in a different direction.

  17. Rocco Sirfredi

False flag operations are covert operations conducted by governments, corporations, or other organizations, which are designed to deceive the public in such a way that the operations appear as if they are being carried out by other entities. The name is derived from the military concept of flying false colors; that is, flying the flag of a country other than one’s own. False flag operations are not limited to war and counter-insurgency operations, and have been used in peace-time.

Expose the wicked intentions the Zionist regime and the Obama administration have in mind of igniting a war in the Persian Gulf. The phrase these misanthropes hate most nowadays is called FALSE FLAG since ordinary people are becoming aware of its meaning.

Israeli submarines deployed in the Sea of Oman will sink an American warship that happens to be navigating close to the Strait of Hormuz – an attack to subsequently be blamed on Iran. Most likely one of these Zionist submarines (Type 800 Dolphin class) is already operating in the Sea of Oman:
    INS Dolphin
    INS Livyathan
    INS Tekumah

Another plausible way by which Israel and the US Government could justify a war against the Islamic Republic of Iran is by staging another FALSE FLAG ATTACK on continental United States: a controlled nuclear explosion (dirty bomb) targeting a major urban concentration that may kill dozens of thousands of civilians. This operation will be carried out by the CIA in partnership with Israel’s Mossad and British MI6 to subsequently be blamed on elements of Iran’s IRGC.

Educate the masses about the meaning of FALSE FLAG operations.

“Those who never learn from history are doomed to repeat their mistakes”. Vietnam: After the French for about 30 years, failed to control them, we take over the same folly. Afganistan: After the Russians failed to control them, we do it again. Pearl Harbor: The attack by the japanese was in retaliation for the identical quaratine and sanctions imposed on them that we intend for Iran. We are risking one hell of a payback. America should be a deal broker instead of a gun slinger.

  19. Capt Bob

Greg: While all of the above may be true, I think that both Russia and China have bigger interests than supporting a rogue regime. If oil prices rise, Russia benefits. China has just inked a deal with Saudi Arabia insuring that they will be continually supplied if the oil from Iran is interrupted.

I do expect a low grade war, and perhaps it has already started. Not ground troops, but one way or another, the days of this regime are over. And hey, we all know that going to war supports the incumbent in an election.

While there are reasons to be cynical, a regime change in Tehran would be welcome.

“Just yesterday, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said, “Iran is our close neighbor, just south of the Caucasus. Should anything happen to Iran, should Iran get drawn into any political or military hardships, this will be a direct threat to our national security” Sounds somewhat like the verbiage of:

Ezekiel 38.3-6.& 14-16. “And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee”.

I’ve left out the remainder of these Biblicat prophesies for the purpose of brevity; however, one can easily look them up!

I am not taking a side here. However, Israel has not signed the NNPT and will not allow inspections. Iran has done both. If after inspecting both countries we find “illegal doings” then deal with it, but not until then. Shouldn’t we be inspecting both sides equally, I mean we (the U.S.) are involed either way ???

Iran, China and Russia are allies, none of which have any love lost for the west. Who’s to say Iran hasn’t already participated in a “nukes for oil” trade with one of its allies? If China or Russia are rattling their nuclear sabers to defend Iran, why not just give Iran their own? Does anyone not believe Iran would martyr itself if pushed into a corner? This is the home of the suicide bomber and this could be the mother of all suicide bombings!

    Greg,
The Strawman of all Strawmen is Iran developing a nuclear weapon. Even if the definition of a lunatic was just the picture of Ahmadinejad in Websters, even he would not use a nuclear weapon. By definition a State weapon — which would lead to annihilation of it’s developer if used, Korea and Pakistan know this very well.
Forgetting that the reason for invading Iraq was based on flawed intel why are we still in Afghanistan? We defeated the Al Qaida planners and killed Bin Laden –if there was ever a time to cut and run with a mission accomplished chest banger — that was it. NO – we can’t leave just yet — WHY??
There is not one logical — forget that — not one illogical reason to engage with Iran. Ron Paul — the lunatic — according to the MSM who seem to actually have increased their sphere of influence in this critical election, has some answers that no one wants to listen to so they marginalize him. Sad but true

  24. chowthen

What military muscle does China and Russia have if we went to war with Iran? China has the largest manpower but you need to transport them to fight any foreign war. The only thing Russia and China has is big talk but has no capability to aid any one militarily. They can provide munitions which is the best they can do but that can be stopped by blockade of Iranian ports. They could possibly do by air transport or overland but that will take a lot of transport planes and rail which I don’t think the Chinese or the Russians have nor be willing to spend trillions of Yuan or Rubbles. And if we decide to stop buying from China or Russia then goodluck to them.

    • Greg

      chowthen,
China shot a satellite down out of space last year. Both China and Russia have very sophisticated missiles that can sink an aircraft carrier. Russia has a torpedo that travels faster than the speed of sound–UNDERWARTER. That’s just a few of the nasty surprises that China and Russia have developed. War with Iran would be costly and bloody. The effect on the global economy would spell disaster and severe depression

Greg, I believe that the US/Israeli manufactured crisis with Iran is accelerating toward the point of no return.

The US is now angry that Israel has engineered the assassination of yet another Iranian scientist. Very angry. So angry that the US very publicly cancelled “Austere Challenge 12”, the largest joint US/Israel military war game in history. So angry that the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff is flying to Israel next week for talks with senior Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak and senior Israeli military and intelligence officials. Not only is the US officially angry with Israel, it is also officially concerned, for the record, that the Israelis might be planning a unilateral strike against Iran’s potentially-mythical nuclear weapons program.

Despite the best efforts by the US to contain them, you never can tell with those devilishly clever Israelis might do. They might stage an “uncoordinated unilateral” attack, without the participation or approval of the US of course (wink, wink). Or they might stage a “false flag” incident to provoke the Iranians into attacking a US ship. If Iran defends itself, the US will “have no choice” but to “retaliate.” The thoroughly conditioned American public will demand it. The US is, after all, the sole remaining Super Power and the self-appointed Leader of the Free World.

The US is moving two carrier strike groups (the USS Carl Vinson and the USS Abraham Lincoln) to join the USS John C. Stennis in the Arabian Sea. Two combat brigades have been rotated out of Europe to Israel (to participate in the now-cancelled “Austere Challenge 12”) and two additional combat brigades have been “withdrawn” from Iraq to Kuwait, where they stand ready for deployment. Is it coincidental that a French Mirage fighter collided with a Saudi Royal Air Force F15 yesterday during “a routine training exercise”? These two countries do not appear to have a long history of joint training operations.

When war comes, will a strategy of “plausible deniability” be sufficiently convincing to the Russians and the Chinese, both of which have repeatedly issued strong warnings on Iran’s behalf? Events have reached a very dangerous phase with unpredictable results.

      Frank,
I think you are correct but I hope you are wrong.

The Middle East is like an old Booby Trap game, just one piece away from the spring snappin and sending pieces flying all over the room. There are a lot of voices urging restraint, ex heads of Shin Bet and the Mossad, DEBKAfile has been oddly balanced, lots of former US/NATO generals and intelligence directors are against it. If this were about politics I wouldn’t be nearly as worried, but it’s about money. Uncle Sam/Wall ST are like cocaine addled degenerate gamblers trying to break into the casino’s cash room (middle eastern oil fields) for one last big score with the Russian and Chinese mob hot on their trail. Maybe they get enough to keep the hitmen at bay a little longer, maybe they have a “say hello to my little friend” moment. We owe debts we can’t pay back, nations go to war when that happens. The Chinese have purely economic reasons for war too, and any country that has live fire nuclear cavalry exercises would sacrifice capital if there were good strategic reasons for it (eliminating us as a military and economic rival.)War with Iran could light the fuse.

“The U.S. has warned Iran against any action to close this narrow shipping passage where up to 40% of the world’s oil passes every year.”
Ramping up the anxiety. Last week it was widely reported “as much as 20%.”

No one wants this war, except for a small group of hysterical Zionists and their lackeys in Washington, London, and Paris.

This could turn out to be the biggest mistake in human history because the Iranians wont be walked over.

I feel like someone watching a train speeding down the track toward a school bus full of kids, and no one understands what’s about to happen.

I have actually been looking at Russia and its very puzzling really. For one thing they still havent given Iran the s300 and now they are saying that Russia is planning for Iran war games.

    Russia the wild card
Heres what I think is happening. Russia actually wants Iran taken out (which is one possible reason they will will not give Iran the S300). Russia benefits from in three ways the price of oil skyrockets (good for Russia), it gets ride of a nuclear Iran (does russia really want that long term with Chechnya next door) it would also see the US bogged down in another war. What Russia doesnt want is for the Iranian regime to fall and be replaced a pro-western government.

WHY ARE WE WORRYING ABOUT IRAN’S NUCLEAR PROGRAM… WHEN ISRAEL HAS F@@@@@@ 200 NUCLEAR BOMBS???? WHERES THE F@@@@@@ LOGIC…

  32. william

HYPOCRACY of the world, WHY tell me why even if Iran was and is making nuclear weapons are they not allowed to and all this fuss over their nuclear program its beyond laughable! if this is in fact about their nukes which i don’t believe it really is, I think this whole nuke story is a cover story for whats really under the hood.

the chances of Pakistan’s some couple of hundred nukes landing in the hands of its entirely terrorist infested and corrupt country from top to bottom is far far far greater than any risk coming form Iran even if they did develop a hundred nukes!

oh lets not forget India or israel both these countries have nukes unaccounted for with israel in complete secrecy about the number of nukes they have entirely out of the hands of the international community and not even signed up they were only recently exposed by a jewish wistleblower who served most of his life in jail for exposing their nuke program, are americans really that naive to believe that Iran is that “stupid”! to actually use a nuke against anyone anywhere??!! and to those who argue “oh but it might end up in the hands of terrorists”! the chances of that happening with pakistan india, Russian mafia , israel are far far greater in fact what reassures the world that none of the other nuke holding countries wont “slip” one into fanatic hands and then claim innocent, why not they’ve been doin it for years with other missiles and bombs!

Iran is a highly developed country with incredibly intelligent highly cultured talented people, this is what the west and their puppet saudi arabia and the infestation called israel fear, and rest assured this whole so called arab spring against Syria is another game to get to iran, which in itself is started cause israel wanted to pressure assad over hezbollah in beirut, so once again it all comes back to israel, you want peace on earth solve that problem and you solve most of the problems of the region, make the mistake of striking Iran in any way then I assure you World war 2 would seem like a walk in the park to what you would reap in this whirlwind.

Greg, I usually agree with you, but I think you are off here. In my opinion, the US and Iran are engaged in a high stakes game of saber rattling. Nobody truly wants a war, except maybe Israel (their civilian leadership in any case; their military knows that this is madness). This is not my opinion alone; it is also shared by Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, from the Bush administration. The US knows that it can’t fight against Iran without calling up a draft, and the US is in no position to do so. The American people will NOT die for the bottom line of the oil companies and the mercenary corporations (oops, I mean the “private military contractors”; see how respectable that sounds?), not after Iraq. A poll conducted by CBS finds that 80% of the US DOES NOT want a war with Iran. In my opinion, the US, by parking carriers on Iran’s doorstep and clamping down with sanctions against Iran, wants to force Iran to trade in petro-dollars, as well as deter Iran from thinking about developing nuclear weapons (though our belligerence might compel Iran to do so). The first reason I gave should give us pause. The US would risk war, just to force Iran to trade in dollars, instead of euros, yen or gold? Really? This is a really, really bad sign, because it suggests that the US knows that it has taken on too much debt, and it is willing to go to extraordinary lengths to force other nations to conduct oil transactions in dollars, which makes the dollar an attractive foreign reserve currency, which makes other nations reluctant to question the viability of our debt. Anyway, I think the real danger is if we “stumble” into a war with Iran, if there is an accident in the Straits of Hormutz or if Israel decides to attack Iran. Anyhow, those are my two cents. Keep up the good work, Greg.

    • Greg

      KM,
I would like nothing better to be dead wrong on this one. Yes, the two sides are saber rattling, but the signs are there for full metal to metal contact. Thank you for adding your perspective, you do make valid points, and again, I hope you are right and I am wrong. Peace.

hejjat its true what you say bro,

By the way, the all free all democratic nation of Britain just recently shut down “PressTV”, funny isn’t it, at least George G. over there gave them some well deserved lash back for the sake of it.
They are all masters of twisting the media and false information, this is the world we live in unfortunately, one day it will implode out of the blue just as the so called “Arab spring” took place out of the blue all ignited by literary one man setting himself on fire in some corner of Africa, hopefully this second spring wont have to have the whole world ignited before any changes take place.
