Weekly News Wrap-Up 7.27.12

By Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com

Once again, Syria is at the top of the News Wrap-Up.  Russia is sending a large contingent of marines to Syria.  They will park off the coast, ready to go ashore if needed.  I told you this was not going to go down like Libya.  Russia has a naval base in Syria and is a big ally of the Syrian government.  Now, Iran is saying it will come to the help of the Syrian government and will not permit a regime change.  This is a bloody civil war that has claimed the lives of nearly 20,000 Syrian citizens.  There is no end in sight.

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner was in the Congressional hot seat this week.  Geithner was grilled with questions as to why he did not call a halt to the multi-trillion dollar Libor global rate rigging fraud.  The big bankers are going to say Mr. Geithner, who was at the New York Fed when this started, basically gave his tacit approval for the fraud.  I look for him to be sacrificed by the bankers over this mess.

Former CEO of Citi Group, Sandy Weill, says the big banks should be broken up.  What?  He was one of the architects of the big bank “supermarket” model.  What do you want to bet the banks will shave off the productive assets for investment banks and leave taxpayers with the debt and toxic garbage to clean up?  What a weasel!!!

Ron Paul got his “Audit the Fed” bill through the House with a lopsided 327 to 98 vote.  I don’t think it will make it past the Senate, but if it does, Obama will surely kill it with a veto.   You want to know how $1.6 billion of client money can be “vaporized” in the MF Global bankruptcy and not a single charge be filed against CEO Jon Corzine?  Well, it was revealed this week that MF Global was a client of Attorney General Eric Holder’s former law firm.  We have a nation of men, not laws.

Finally, you think the government does not censor the news?  Think again.  The New York Times published a story two weeks ago that admitted most mainstream news organizations (including the Times) allow the Obama and Romney campaigns to approve quotes.  I call that censorship, and that is from the New York Times.  You wonder why sites like this one are growing and the MSM is shrinking.  Greg Hunter gives his analysis of these stories and more in the Weekly News Wrap-Up.

In breaking up banks, it muddles the trail of responsibility and hence the avoidance of criminal prosecution. (JSMineset.com)

      Weill Coyote,
Bing, bing, Bing!!! I love the name you are using!!

If a news organization verifies a quote, it gives the person being quoted a chance to make sure their quote is not being taken out of context. I don’t think it gives them the right to say don’t use that quote if the reporter recorded the quote on some type of recording device.

Hey Greg and your other readers besides myself, please check out my Debt Neutrality Petition on Change dot org. If you like the idea, please consider signing. Although a person is asked for their address, I don’t think that the actual street address is necessary.

      Alessandro,
The times article clearly said the reporters needed “approval.” That is censorship with the threat of denying access to the candidates.
Thank you for the comment and link. ( I am not endorsing this, just giving folks info.)

Sandy Weill might just be going the AT&T business model…create a monopoly too big to fail then break it up into smaller pieces so they can work together and grow into more giant corporate firms and when they get approval to merge together again!

if the corrupt are not put out of business then they will teach others that their criminal business model is sustainable.

    • Greg

      Nice short analysis Mitch!

Greg, you and I know white wealthy powerful men have been having their way with children for time and memorial, the white house scandal, barney franks house..etc.

    • Mark

Absolutely. There is a very harrowing video revealing just that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtstlx96s8M If you want to know how far the sickness goes, watch this, or read the book of the same name (the franklin scandal). Very soon the entire system will crumble under the weight of it’s own debauchery….Let rome burn.

Russia is playing hardball as our State Department waits for the Rebels to get a stronger foothold and to see if the Rebels may able to pull this off. Basically, the U.S. is waiting until the last quarter of the game before it will bet on the Rebel side, probably a decision which will cost the Rebels and the people of Syria their revolution. The U.S. State Department has gotten out played again by Iran & Russia. Further, this may well, as your Iranian friend believes, be the end of the war option on Iran; which spells the end of effective sanctions. The U.S. waited too long to overtly arm the Rebels and place a no-fly zone over their strongholds. I take issue about “no end in sight”. I think I see the end in sight, and its against the people of Syria.

After many warnings from Russia and China against intervening in Syria or Iran, the checkers player Obama makes his last, fateful move and America is the target of an overwhelming surprise nuclear attack on the mainland.
All their major military bases including the Fifth Fleet in the Persian Gulf ,all gone in less than an hour.
Putin calls Checkmate on the community organizer who was out on D day playing golf.
Iran says no more great Satan,Hugo Chavez and little Kim from North Korea meet in Havana and hold an outdoor barbecue with Daniel,Raoul and friends and salute their masterful Vlad ‘the destroyer of empires’ Putin and the formidable Chinese.

    Zechariah 12:3,9:
And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people; And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

The arrogant empire which assumed to carve up Israel for their bogus peace is cut in pieces as God warned.

“The times they are a changing” Bob Dylan.

Just makes you want to throw up your hands and forget about it all. Pure disgust. Nothing being done about Holder’s contempt of Congress. Corzine is still on the loose. J. Dimon is surely has a smirk on his face as the total loses of his mistake tally upward. Weills has a stunning new idea to break up the banks. Hilliary Clinton running with the U.N. to broker gun control behind the scenes.
We are at the point that is compareable to the Cuban Missle Crisis. What sits off both our coasts are things that Homeland Security can not stop. It’s the Chicken or the Egg syndrome. Will they kill the financial world first or nuke us back to the stoneage? Nice choice?
What choices do we have? Occupy Wall St. or Washington D.C.. A few armored vehicles and pepper gas would drive most off. Don’t pay our Taxes. See how far that gets you. Riots and civil unrest. Burn down the infrastructure and make it worst for yourself. Petition our elected officials for redress of actions taken against us, ROFLMAO!
Yes, it is a three ring circus with no Ringmaster.

  8. Simple Simon

I find it amazing, only a few thousand people worldwide know anything of this weeks items. And even fewer even care. Keep up the good fight.

I keep wishing for a national alternative news and opinion network on cable, one that would only run independently produced shows, not controlled by the criminals.

I am a huge fan of Paul Craig Roberts, I can’t understand why there aren’t several hundred like minded people in the house and senate. They are all on the take.

    • Greg

      Simple Simon,
Thank you for manking a comment–your first. Welcome.
      Greg

      • jay cee

Greg. I have had the same thoughts as simple simon. A tv news show on a small (off the wall) station would keep the cost low. heavy advertize online. Maybe partner up with Coasttocoastam, and Infowars, ect… I think it would be a big big hit to the liers we once trusted. THANKS.

        • Greg

          Jay Cee,
          Someday maybe?

Greg, great reporting. The world is in a mess and we have a bunch of spineless people in high places who would cover up & protect those who have committed the worse of crimes that have ruin the lives of many!

Again we find Hillary & Obama going after the 2nd amendment via ‘The UN’s Agenda 21’. I know Obama will sign the treaty & then put pressure on the senate to ratify the treaty that will go after the rights to own fire arms. It is a daily attack on our freedoms & our rights to protect our lives & property. Dr Ron Paul has done more to try to protect & defend the Constitution & Bill of Rights & now his son has joined in that fight. S.202 will show those whom are in the pocket of the fed & those who will defend the Constitution. When the dust settles & the votes are cast, we should make sure those who would not support S.202 get plenty of exposer on the net!

The powder keg in the ME & NA could blow up at any time putting our troops lives at risk & for what? To keep the news off the death of the dollar & the libor crimes that gets little if any coverage by the MSM.

More gun control hidden in cyber crime bill. http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/senate/240657-cybersecurity-bill-includes-gun-control-measure. The progressives will stoop to levels so low to push their ways on all of us, no matter the cost & harm it does to our freedoms.

It has come to the point where the banksters are going to eat their own so they may continue to rob Americans blind!

I will be out stocking up on some food supplies & filling up the RV befor gas prices spike up wards! Have a great week end & thanks for the great reporting! M.S.

    Greg,

I used to use infowars, theeconomiccollapseblog, USA Watchdog and The Drudge Report for all of my news. Just wanted to let you know that I have recently narrowed that down to just your site, and the Drudge Report, as these are the most authentic, informative news outlets for me. Please keep up the GREAT work. Absolutely love your weekly wrap-ups.

    • Greg

      Ryan,
Those are good folks but I am happy you are coming here! Thank you.
      Greg

  11. Nathan

    Hey Greg,

Just a quick couple of points . I believe it was your website that reported Timothy Geitner spewing off a couple of F bombs a couple of weeks ago . (That right there shows he’s getting defensive .) Most people do so when backed into a corner . Also lets not forget that he tried quiting the administration a while back but was talked into staying by Obama himself . You have to ask yourself why he wants out so bad ?

    Just my two cents
Keep up the great work .

P.s Do you think Mr Sanford Weiss recent blockbuster comments about bringing back the Glass Steagal act were his coming to Jesus moment or an attempt to fend off the future pitchforks ? How’d you like Becky from CNBCs literal gasp when he brought that up 🙂

    • Greg

      Nathan,
Fear of pitch forks and greed. Thank you for your comments and support.
      Greg

The big banks need to be broken up, but I want to see a claw back of the CEO ill-gotten gains. I don’t care if they go to jail or not. I think the American people deserve our pound of flesh – a claw back of all bonuses.

  14. Willard Ferch

John Adams, our second President, addressing the military leaders, said, “We have no government armed with the power capable of contending with human passions, unbridled by morality and true religion. Our Constitution was made only for a moral & religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” We have a President who only enforces laws that suit him, Supreme Court Judges who don’t believe in the Constitution, politicians & bankers without consciences, and an ever-growing populace just like them. The outcome of such a menagerie is quite obvious. Fiddlin

  15. BLT

Its all up to us now. The people with no voice and no backbone. Soon to be….no food or money. How did it get this stupid? How did we become so afraid? What is on the other side once we wake up? I cant wait to find out. Be on the side of truth and liberty and all else will fall right into place. Greg has opened our eyes and with each new update we get closer to 20/20 vision. almost there now….

  16. Mike Gunther

Greg, to quote Mr Spock, “you really must control your passions Doctor, or they will be your undoing”! Keep giving it to us real! God knows there is enough white washed news out there and I agree with Ryan, I have narrowed some of my choices of what I read to you and a few others as well. Is there anyone out there that you could interview for us that would be able to advise your average Joe with a decent 401K with all its sticky restrictions what to do with it to get the most out of it before they are confiscated or taxed to oblivion? Thanks for all you do!

    • Greg

Thank you Mike for the comment and humor.
      Greg

  17. Ambrose

    Greg,

Don’t worry about Geithner. As long as he is not prosecuted as a criminal, losing his job at the Treasury is no big deal. I bet his buddies in Wall Street will offer him a well paying job to compensate for his previous assistance.

The Summer Olympics has just begun. Unless something important is going to happen in the next two weeks (such as breaking news about Tom Cruise divorce or Jackson family disputes), the Olympics will definitely dominate the MSM news. I finally figured that only entertaining news are worthy for the MSM. News about Syria, Libya and Iran will just have to wait for the next free time slot.

Media censorship is already here. It won’t be long before Uncle Sam censors the Internet.

  18. Tim Wulff

    Greg,

Thank you a thousand times for being you.

We have all gone through our periods of apoplexia.

Eventually, I couldn’t endure suffering the emotional outrage so intensely. It didn’t go away, but became like a reference in my internal library.

Eventually, the emotion turns into a convicted action and changed decisions.

I am developing greater confidence in the existence of an effective resistance movement that is manifesting in the revelation of evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

    Let us rise up.

    You are a leader.

Do you read Jim Willie, David Wilcock, Benjamin Fulford?

    Best,

    tw

    • Greg

      Tim,
Thank you for your kind words but I try to be a reporter and yes I read Jim Willie but don’t know much about the other two folks.
      Greg
